Sting is being sued for ‘MILLIONS of pounds in lost royalties’ by former bandmates in The Police

In simpler terms, Sting’s ex-bandmates from The Police are taking legal action against him, claiming that he owes them a significant amount of money due to unpaid royalty earnings.

In simpler terms, the 73-year-old singer was given a legal document (High Court writ) by the bandmates Andy Summers (guitarist) and Stewart Copeland (drummer).

The ‘substantial’ damages claim comes after many years of bitter legal disputes.

According to a source, it was long anticipated that this situation might occur. Multiple attempts were made by legal representatives to resolve the matter outside of court, but they ultimately failed to find common ground.

Andy and Stewart found themselves with no other choice but to resort to a lawsuit, as they claim they are entitled to millions of dollars in unpaid royalties.

London’s High Court lists the legal case under ‘general commercial contracts and arrangements’.

In this legal case, both Sting (Gordon Matthew Sumner) personally and his company, Magnetic Publishing Limited, are named as defendants.

It’s estimated that the star generates approximately £550,000 annually just from royalties of the popular song “Every Breath You Take,” which ranks as the fifth top-selling track from the ’80s.

Bandmates Summers and Copeland, however, were not handed songwriting credits on the single.

The Daily Mail has approached Sting, Summers and Copeland for comment.

In 1977, the British new-wave group The Police was established in London and gained massive popularity after the release of their second album, “Reggatta De Blanc.” This album marked the beginning of a series of four consecutive chart-toppers for the band.

As an ardent devotee, I’ve had the privilege of capturing five UK chart-toppers and clinching the number one spot in the US with the enchanting track “Every Breath You Take.
