A fresh piece of concept art unveiled potential enhancements for Galactus in the 2025’s Fantastic Four, offering an even more impressive appearance. The colossal comic book terror, famed for devouring planets, made his Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) entrance as a Kaiju-sized menace in the recent Fantastic Four: First Steps, eager to confront Marvel’s First Family. Though the character maintained a faithful comic book aesthetic (in contrast to previous versions), he fell short of the intimidating presence that some fans expected.
It appears that perfecting Galactus was a key aspect of the latest movie. Directors Matt Shakman and Eric Pearson debated extensively on the character’s colossal size to make him menacing yet comprehensible from a human point of view. This led to various alternative depictions of the cosmic antagonist being created during development, some of which have been leaked online.
The Visual Development Supervisor for the 2025 version of Fantastic Four, Jackson Sze, unveiled some fresh concept art depicting Galactus. These illustrations hint that the character might have been more impressive in the movie than what viewers ultimately saw on-screen.
Sze shared some never-before-seen images of the Fantastic Four villain on his personal Instagram, featuring various unused scenes from the movie, including a potential alternate version of the final battle scene in New York City.

In this narrative, I depict a fierce fight unfolding within a gloomier setting. The colossal menace strides ahead, igniting destruction and chaos in his wake, heading straight for young Franklin Richards.

In the movie, Galactus’ appearance and actions during the attack on the city were far less menacing compared to what fans had initially envisioned. The visuals from the concept art showed a much more imposing figure.

The difference in how the final fight is portrayed between the two versions might primarily be due to the varying environments or props (set dressing) around Galactus, not so much Galactus himself.

In a different version, the climactic battle unfolded under the cover of darkness, with the smoldering ruins of New York City casting an ominous glow, adding a sense of chilliness and foreboding to the confrontation that was not originally featured in the movie’s final edit.

Sze displayed additional sketches of the villain, enhancing a sense of curiosity about what the character might have become.

Over these specific instances, Galactus towers over Earth, projecting an enormous shadow onto the world beneath.

In the film’s final cut, his size remained unchanged, which means it wasn’t feasible to portray him towering over the planet as depicted in Sze’s artwork, given that he wouldn’t have been large enough for such a scale.

In this instance, it seems as though I’m experiencing a moment reminiscent of the grand celestial scenes featured in the movie ‘Eternals,’ where one of those colossal cosmic entities might stretch across the whole sky should they so choose.

In the fresh Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film titled Fantastic Four, Galactus is one of several characters introduced for the first time. This formidable antagonist was accompanied by Sue Storm, Reed Richards, Ben Grimm, Johnny Storm, and the Silver Surfer, all expanding the lore of the MCU.
Under the guidance of director Matt Shakman, known for “WandaVision,” the cast includes Ralph Ineson, Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joseph Quinn, and Julia Garner in the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film titled Fantastic Four: First Steps. This movie is currently running on screens worldwide.
Will Galactus Come Back to the MCU Scarier Than Ever?
It was thrilling to see a comics-true version of Galactus in Fantastic Four 2025, but sneak peeks of potential designs like this one might leave some fans wishing they could’ve had that portrayal of the character/final battle instead.
Fortunately, Galactus remains alive and possibly more powerful than before in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), as he wasn’t killed off at the end of the movie. Instead, his character was propelled through a wormhole into deep space.
It’s been theorized that the character might reappear in either “Avengers: Doomsday” or “Secret Wars,” potentially being enlisted by the villainous Doctor Doom for his universal conquest plans, or by the Avengers to thwart Doom’s ongoing endeavors.
