On Saturday, Sophie Ellis Bextor surprised everyone with her captivating performance at the unexpected Reading Festival.

46-year-old vocalist teamed up with Australian duo Royel Otis for a rendition of her renowned 2001 hit “Murder on the Dancefloor.

Sophie looked incredible in a silver, black and gold mini-dress emblazoned with the word disco. 

In line with the disco vibe from the song that catapulted her to fame, she matched her gown with a gleaming, light-blue cloak.

She kept it cool in the August heat, wearing her hair back with a red lip and a smokey eye. 

Following their performance alongside the renowned ’00s chart-topper, Royel Otis showcased a few numbers from their freshly debuted LP, titled Hickey.

Sophie’s music has made a dramatic comeback after featuring in the hit film 2023 Saltburn.

And the Murder On the Dancefloor hitmaker has barely aged since her 2001 smash hit single.

Last year, during an appearance on The Kyle and Jackie O Show, she expressed her profound affection for Saltburn, stating that she became so enamored with the place upon visiting, she momentarily forgot the reason she was there for the screening.

She mentioned that she was thoroughly engrossed in what she was listening to, to the point where she felt as if she wasn’t even present anymore, all thanks to the captivating song ‘Murder on the Dancefloor.’

On a weekday morning, I attended an early showing of the film, and I brought my entire family – my husband, my brother, my mother, and my oldest son – as the singer mentioned.

In Saltburn, there are numerous explicit scenes, and the track by Ellis-Bextor is played during a prolonged sequence where the lead actor, Barry Keoghan, performs a dance routine without clothes on.

The chat emerges following the revelation that the singer, despite having a demanding career, doesn’t experience feelings of guilt often associated with mothers, known as “mother guilt,” even when her work schedule prevents her from being constantly available for her five kids.

Sophie shared with TopMob that after spending countless years diligently pursuing her music career, she has now decided to savor and appreciate it, instead of fretting about moments when she was away from her loved ones.

Currently, Sophie is hoping that her teenage children find motivation from her determination, as she believes that balancing work and parenthood actually enhances her role as a parent.

The famous singer disclosed that her 20-year-old son has chosen to relocate and reside with his grandma, Janet Ellis, who is 69 years old, away from their shared family residence.

She described the new arrangement as ‘wholesome.’

Pondering her pregnancy with Sonny, who came along only six weeks into her relationship with musician husband Richard Jones, aged 45, Sophie notes that their family life has essentially consisted of three since the very beginning.

As a die-hard fan, I’ve been on cloud nine ever since learning about this beloved pair who’ve been together for a stunning 19 years! With an amazing brood of five boys gracing their home, they’ve reached a beautiful stage in life where expanding their family isn’t on the table. Watching these sons grow up brings them immense joy, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this wonderful family.

Apart from Sonny, the family also includes Kit (aged 15), Ray (11 years old), Jesse (9 years old), and their youngest member Mickey who is just 5 years old.
