Marvel recently revealed a fresh poster for an upcoming venture, which bears a striking resemblance to the primary poster for the groundbreaking event, Avengers: Endgame. However, in this new version, seven of the characters have been swapped out. Given that Avengers: Endgame was not just a movie but an epic event, any marketing material that makes such comparisons is bound to catch people’s attention and stir curiosity, much like one Marvel comic is doing as it gears up for its December launch.
Marvel Comics unveiled a fresh poster for their upcoming series, dubbed Ultimate Endgame, set to launch on December 31, 2025. This poster closely resembles the main character poster from the movie Avengers: Endgame, serving as a tribute to the film that concluded the Infinity Saga.
As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that despite the comic series not releasing until late December, we’ll get a sneak peek at San Diego Comic-Con 2025! On Saturday, July 26, you can find me in Room 6A from 1:45 p.m. PT to 2:45 p.m. PT, where the MARVEL COMICS: Ultimate Universe panel will be happening. The brilliant minds behind the scene, Jonathan Hickman and Deniz Camp, will be there discussing Ultimate Endgame. I can’t wait to hear what they have in store for us!
In much the same way that “Avengers: Endgame” concluded Phases 1-3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), “Ultimate Endgame” is anticipated to round off the “Ultimate Universe” storyline in Marvel Comics, drawing the overall narrative to a close.
In summary, the “Ultimate Universe” narrative revolves around Reed Richards, known as the Maker, constructing an alternative universe to replace his own. To maintain control, he bars powerful superheroes from inhabiting this new realm. However, a determined group of heroes aims to thwart him and restore the universe to its original state.
Every Replaced Avengers: Endgame Hero on the Ultimate Endgame Poster
Spider-Man – Thor

On the poster for “Avengers: Endgame,” Thor is placed slightly to Iron Man’s right, and he appears larger than most characters on the poster except for Iron Man, Captain America, and Thanos. In the “Ultimate Endgame” poster, Spider-Man takes Thor’s spot.
In the captivating narrative of the Ultimate Universe, I found myself intrigued as Reed Richards, the Maker, made an extraordinary decision that altered the life of Peter Parker. Instead of getting bitten by a radioactive spider, Peter’s path took a different turn. He found love with Mary-Jane and together they built a beautiful family, welcoming two wonderful children into their lives.
Nonetheless, Peter eventually donned the Spider-Man suit and starred in his own comic series within the Ultimate Universe titled “Ultimate Spider-Man”. Interestingly enough, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor had already become a staple Avenger when the events of Endgame transpired, whereas Spider-Man hasn’t been prominently associated with the Ultimates. Therefore, it might seem somewhat unusual to see him replacing Thor on the Ultimate Endgame poster.
However, that could indicate how important Spider-Man will be to the upcoming event.
Black Panther – Hulk

In a thrilling twist that’s got fellow Marvel enthusiasts buzzing, it seems the Hulk – traditionally portrayed by the talented Mark Ruffalo – has been swapped out in the Ultimate Endgame poster. This shift is particularly intriguing given that, within the Ultimate Universe, Black Panther was also a leading character with his own comic series, aptly titled Ultimate Black Panther. It’s not every day we see such exciting changes in our beloved Marvel universe!
In the narrative, the character T’Challa, who is also known as Black Panther, suffered the loss of his father, King T’Chaka, following an assault by Moon Knight’s assassins. After this event, T’Challa embarked on a mission to identify and confront those responsible, assuming the role of Black Panther in doing so.
It’s significant to mention that both Erik Killmonger and Storm take prominent positions in the comic series “Ultimate Black Panther“. This duo, together with T’Challa, Shuri, and Okoye, form a collective known as the Circle of Power. Therefore, it’s plausible for this team to emerge in future comics.
Just like Thor had already become a significant member of the Avengers team when he featured in Endgame, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk was equally prominent. Therefore, if Black Panther is taking over Hulk’s spot on the poster for Ultimate Endgame, it seems that his role will be crucial and substantial.
Maystorm – Captain Marvel

Endgame” poster.
To delve deeper into her abilities, Maystorm possesses command over the wind, the ability to unleash lightning, and the capacity to manipulate rainfall. Much like Captain Marvel, she is an incredibly potent figure who may play a crucial role in ensuring the Ultimates emerge victorious against The Maker. Similarly, as Captain Marvel did with the Avengers when they defeated Thanos, Maystorm could provide the decisive push for their victory.
Wasp – Nebula

In the “Ultimate Universe” comic book series, Wasp belongs to the team known as The Ultimates. But unlike the Hope van Dyne character popularized in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is actually the Janet van Dyne version of the character that we find in this storyline.
On the new poster for Ultimate Endgame, Ant-Man’s partner, Wasp, has taken over the spot previously held by Nebula. This change is likely because Nebula was quite diminutive on the original Avengers: Endgame poster compared to the other characters, even smaller than Rocket. Given that Wasp would be a more noticeable figure due to Nebula’s small size on the previous poster, it seems logical to replace her with Wasp.
Wolverine – Black Widow

The character known as Wolverine from the Ultimate Universe goes by the name Logan, but he has a unique history. He wasn’t just Wolverine; he was also transformed into the Winter Soldier. This transformation occurred when he was taken prisoner by the Eurasian Republic for scientific experiments. They replaced his bones with Adamantium and wiped his memories clean, turning him into the Eurasian Republic’s own version of the Winter Soldier.
In the poster for “Ultimate Endgame,” I noticed an interesting parallel: Wolverine occupies the same space as Black Widow did on the “Avengers: Endgame” poster. This could hint at Marvel subtly comparing their backstories, given that both characters experienced intense abuse and trauma – Logan with his adamantium experimentation, and Natasha in the Red Room as she was molded into a Widow.
Doctor Doom – Okoye

In the unique realm of the Ultimate Universe, Doctor Doom is not the villainous counterpart we often know from Marvel Comics. Instead, the antagonist role is filled by Reed Richards himself. In this narrative, a malevolent version of Reed Richards (known as the Maker) infiltrates the world of the conventional Fantastic Four, intentionally disrupting their space voyage to ensure they never gained their iconic powers.
In a twist of events, Reed, who was initially virtuous, fell into the hands of his malevolent counterpart. This Reed subjected him to cruel treatment until he donned a disguise, transforming him into Doctor Doom. Yet, Doctor Doom managed to break free from the Maker’s grip and joined forces with Tony Stark. Together, these two powerful individuals established the Ultimates, a premier superhero team predominantly showcased in the Ultimate Universe.
In the context of the Ultimate Universe, Doom played a significant role and remains a key figure in the storyline. It’s somewhat unexpected to find him replacing Okoye on the Ultimate Endgame poster, given his importance. One might anticipate that a more prominent character like Hulk or Thor would have been chosen instead for the poster swap.
The Maker – Thanos

In simpler terms, since The Maker is the main antagonist in the Ultimate Universe, it’s not unexpected that he appears instead of Thanos on the poster for the Ultimate Endgame.
In the “Ultimate Universe,” a malevolent counterpart of Reed Richards, referred to as The Maker, aspired to establish a realm where no superheroes surpassed him in power. Essentially, he aimed to become the most potent entity globally, and he resorted to extreme tactics to prevent certain heroes from ever emerging, for instance, hindering the creation of Spider-Man.
In the intriguing realm of the Ultimate Universe, I find myself drawn to the captivating narrative where I serve as an admirer, not a participant. The enigmatic character known as The Maker assumes the role of the grand antagonist, setting the stage for an epic showdown. Assembling alongside the formidable team called the Ultimates, I eagerly anticipate the alliance they might forge with other valiant companions. The impending confrontation promises to be nothing short of thrilling!
Ultimate Endgame’s Full Poster
It’s been noted that the poster for “Ultimate Endgame” seems strikingly similar to the main character poster from “Avengers: Endgame”. Despite several characters being swapped out, there are still some familiar faces present.

In a similar fashion, the promotional material for “Ultimate Endgame” (originally posted by Marvel Comics through X) presents Tony Stark and Steve Rogers occupying identical positions as they do on the “Avengers: Endgame” poster. Remarkably, their poses are almost identical in both posters, with the only variation being that Tony is depicted in his Iron Man suit for the “Ultimate Endgame.

A greater number of characters appear on the said poster compared to the one for “Ultimate Endgame.” This could be due to the fact that only a select few characters from the latter poster may receive significant attention in the forthcoming comic, with other characters possibly being introduced or featured less prominently.
