James Gunn has clarified some DCU timeline business following the premiere of Peacemaker Season 2.

Unlike the first season that was an expansion of the DCEU, which concluded with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in 2023, this new season falls under Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU. This alternate universe was officially introduced in 2024 with Creature Commandos.
What did James Gunn say about the DCU timeline and Peacemaker Season 2?
In the opening recap of Peacemaker Season 1, you’ll notice a change: instead of the DCEU’s Justice League, the DCU’s Justice Gang makes an appearance. This means that in the brief scenes showing the team’s silhouettes, Mister Terrific, Superman, Green Lantern (Guy Gardner), Hawkgirl, and Supergirl are all visible.
It seems that Metamorpho, a role portrayed by Anthony Carrigan, might have been absent from the team in question, given that he joined the Justice Gang at the conclusion of Gunn’s Superman series.
When asked about Metamorpho’s absence in the recap, Gunn explained on Threads that “the events of the previous section occur prior to Superman.” In simpler terms, the first season of Peacemaker unfolds before Superman’s time, while the second season happens post the events depicted in the initial DC Universe movie.
The second season of Peacemaker will carry on with new episodes every Thursday. This popular series stars John Cena as Chris Smith/Peacemaker, Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Steve Agee as John Economos, Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith/White Dragon, Sol Rodríguez as Sasha Bordeaux, Tim Meadows as Langston Fleury, and Michael Rooker as Red St. Wild.
