Nicolas Cage’s “highly original” thriller with “nail-biting tension” gets new UK streaming home

The unique psychological thriller, “The Surfer,” starring Nicolas Cage, can now be streamed in the comfort of your home in the UK.

The Australian movie was initially screened in UK theaters on May 9th. Now, it’s available for streaming on Sky Cinema and NOW if you have a Cinema membership.

Under the direction of Lorcan Finnegan, the narrative unfolds around a father and his son, who embark on a journey back to the picturesque beach of the father’s youth for a surfing excursion. However, they encounter hostility from a clique of local surfers, resulting in their rejection and intimidation.

While the Financial Times praised the movie for its uniquely innovative plot, The Hollywood Reporter suggested that due to its excessive humor and self-mocking nature, it was hard for some critics to take it seriously.

This year, you can expect the release of director Lotfy Nathan’s film, The Carpenter’s Son, which is Martin Cage’s next project. In this horror movie, Cage portrays The Carpenter, while FKA Twigs takes on the role of the Mother and Noah Jupe stars as the Boy, depicting Jesus Christ’s childhood.

Into the Spider-Verse’, will once again take on his animated role in the forthcoming live-action series of ‘Spider-Man Noir’.

In 2026, the new TV series titled “Spider-Man Noir,” airing on MGM+ in the US and Prime Video in the UK, will present an alternate universe spinoff of Peter Parker. This time, he’s a private detective navigating the crime-ridden streets of 1930s New York City.
