In a bit over nine years, two highly popular rhythm games – Beatstar and Country Star – plan to cease operations permanently on October 31, 2025. For four years, they’ve brought unforgettable gaming moments to people everywhere, but come that date, their servers will no longer be active.
Events and season passes have been extended until shut down of Beatstar and Country Star
The team announced that you’ll still be able to use your previously bought items even after shutdown. However, they’ve stopped selling new content with real money. If you made a purchase within the time frame of July 18 to August 18, 2025, you’re eligible for a refund – just reach out via the in-game help center!
With a heavy heart, we’ve chosen to conclude the development of Beatstar as of October 31, 2025. We appreciate four incredible years together, filled with your valuable input, creative ideas, song and artist recommendations, and so much more. Thank you!

To ensure a delightful experience until the finale, the team has revamped events, incentives, and advancement systems to make it smoother for players to access songs and continue enjoying all the game’s remaining features. This transition occurs just after Duolingo acquired Nextbeat, the studio previously spun off from Space Ape Games.
Music enthusiasts couldn’t resist Beatstar, an engaging rhythm game that had them tapping in sync with leading chart songs. On the other hand, Country Star captured the same enthusiasm, but with a focus on country music hits. Over time, both games grew strong and devoted fan bases, and they are now renowned for their significant contributions to the music gaming world.

Regrettably, Nextbeat has announced that they do not intend to resurrect the games or create new music games in the future. For now, their servers and official Discord channel will continue to operate until a shutdown occurs. At present, the store pages for both games have been taken down, meaning you can no longer download the games.
