The responses to the legendary WWE Hall-of-Famer’s demise were diverse, with whispers that it might have stemmed from complications following a medical treatment. Now, reports indicate that an official investigation has been initiated to examine whether Hogan’s death was inadvertently caused by medical negligence.

The Clearwater Police Department announced that they are examining the circumstances surrounding Hulk Hogan’s demise, as reported by TMZ. This investigation pertains to the incident that took place within the athlete’s residence following the arrival of law enforcement officials. In their own words:

Given the complexities of the situation, we’ve had to speak with numerous witnesses and gather medical records from several healthcare providers. Our detectives are still diligently working on these tasks, which can be time-consuming. The Hogan family has been gracious throughout this process, showing appreciation for our ongoing communication with them.

Sky Hogan, the widow, claimed that a recent surgery might have been responsible for her husband’s death, supported by a police report mentioning the surgeon had allegedly damaged her husband’s phrenic nerve, which regulates the diaphragm. She added that an autopsy was conducted but did not disclose its findings, and also mentioned that the scheduled cremation of her husband’s body is yet to be carried out.

After TMZ discovered that the police report regarding Hogan’s death is under restriction due to its content, it has been reported that an occupational therapist was present in the Florida residence of the “Rocky III” co-star during the incident when he stopped breathing, and subsequently, both Sky’s statement and the Clearwater PD’s statement followed.

It was Sky who noticed that her husband had suddenly and silently stopped breathing. Following this discovery, a call to 911 was made. In the related report, the responding officers talked with Hogan’s therapist, who stated that the phrenic nerve of Hogan, during one of his recent surgeries, had been cut (or “severed”). However, it was unclear which of the surgeries the therapist was referring to.

It’s unclear whether the therapy sessions between officers were recorded on their body cameras, but there are indeed verified recordings in which the officers discuss what was shared during their therapy sessions.
