Vertiqal Studios acquires esports organization Luminosity Gaming

On September 5, 2025, it is scheduled for Vertical Studios to complete the acquisition of both Luminosity Gaming and Omnia Media.

2015 marked the birth of Luminosity Gaming, the Canadian esports powerhouse I’ve been part of. Over the years, we’ve battled it out across various esports arenas. Now, Vertiqal Studios is stepping in to make us a part of their family. Exciting times ahead!

Luminosity Gaming in the esports industry

On August 21st, it was made public that Vertiqal Studios took over Luminosity Gaming and Omnia Media from Enthusiast Gaming. This Canadian team participates in various gaming competitions such as Apex Legends, League of Legends, Super Smash Bros, Pokémon Unite, Mortal Kombat, Pokémon GO, and PUBG. Notably, among their ranks is one of the top players in the Fighting Game Community (FGC), Dominique “SonicFox” McLean.

In 2016, Luminosity Gaming won the MLG Major Championship: Columbus, the first one held in North America. Their remarkable Brazilian lineup included Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, Fernando “fer” Alvarenga, and Marcelo “coldzera” David. However, following their departure to SK Gaming, the team never scaled such heights again. Post their focus on the Brazilian esports scene, LG has continued to compete in various popular North American esports events.

Vertiqal Studios acquires Luminosity Gaming

Due to the purchase, Vertiqal Studios now boasts a broader reach on YouTube, Twitch, and various social media sites. The aim is to amplify its abilities across multiple platforms, supplementing its current services available on TikTok and Snapchat.

After selling off Luminosity Gaming, Enthusiast Gaming announced a change in direction. During their Q2 2025 earnings call, it was disclosed that Luminosity wouldn’t be part of their long-term strategy. With Luminosity no longer under its control, Enthusiast Gaming intends to channel its efforts towards other ventures such as Icy Veins and mobile game publication Pocket Gamer.

According to Jon Dwyer, Chairman and CEO of Vertiqal, this acquisition marks a substantial progress, enabling us to expand our services comprehensively for existing clients throughout the digital advertising realm. Vertiqal Studios is planning to acquire Luminosity Gaming and Omnia for C$900,000 ($647,728), with the transaction scheduled to be finalized on September 5, 2025.
