The upcoming ITV drama starring Sheridan Smith, titled “I Fought the Law,” has set a release date, so viewers won’t have much time left before they can enjoy it.
In this four-piece collection, an actor portrays Ann Ming, a genuine character who championed the elimination of the Double Jeopardy Law within the U.K., following the admission of guilt from her daughter’s murderer, despite his initial acquittal.
A rule exists that prohibits someone from being prosecuted again for the same crime, regardless of any newly discovered evidence. However, there were some modifications to this rule back in 2003.

In this production, the genuine Ming serves as an advisor. It’s based on her book titled “For The Love of Julie“.

Earlier, she stated with joy that ITV and Hera Pictures are going to narrate the account of my fight to change the Double Jeopardy Law.
Although the person responsible for my daughter’s death was incorrectly found not guilty, I was determined to ensure justice was served for Julie, regardless of existing laws.
Ming expressed his delight, saying, “It’s amazing that Sheridan Smith will be portraying me. With her being an iconic and gifted actress, having her represent me is simply fantastic!

As a diehard admirer, I can’t express enough my profound gratitude for being entrusted with this role. Ming is an extraordinary woman who embodies unwavering determination. For fifteen long years, she tirelessly fought for justice in the murder of her daughter, working relentlessly to change the Double Jeopardy Law.
“She is a truly courageous and remarkable woman to whom we all owe a debt of gratitude,” she added.
Over the last couple of weeks, a sneak peek trailer along with several captivating images from the drama series have been shared, prior to its anticipated premiere in the fall season.
I Fought the Law will premiere on Sunday, 31 August at 9pm on ITV.
