KASSL Editions and furniture manufacturer BD Barcelona have teamed up to reintroduce a plush sofa, initially designed by Muller Van Severen four years back, in a stylish fabric that’s impossible to ignore.
In 2021, Muller Van Severen unveiled an innovative fusion piece they called the “Pillow Sofa,” inspired by their previous work on KASSL Editions’ “Pillow Bag.” This intriguing blend, according to Ilse Cornelissens, KASSL Editions co-founder, stands as a representation of where fashion and design intersect.
As a devoted admirer, I eagerly embarked on a mission to replicate the roomy shape of a particular bag. My creative process led me to design a unique piece with separate cushions joined to a robust steel skeleton using bands covered in fabric. Voila! The result was a striking replica that paid homage to its voluminous inspiration.

As a gaming aficionado, I’ve got to share some exciting news about my favorite BD Barcelona Pillow Sofa! Last time around, they introduced it in six stunning fabrics: supple leather, velvety soft velvet, breezy canvas, comfortable cotton, glossy lacquer cotton, and cozy corduroy. Each one came in a vibrant color that really popped. But Can’t wait to get my hands on it.
Muller van Severen, the creators behind the design, have often been captivated by the allure of a polished finish. It’s this mirror-like surface that truly breathes life into their pieces. Each fabric selection adds a distinct personality to the Pillow Sofa, but the glossy lacquered cotton stands out for its bold and sophisticated charm.
