Morgan Wallen has made one of the most shocking decisions of his career.
In contrast, despite achieving the top-selling album of the year with “I’m The Problem,” the successful country artist, who is now 32 years old, has decided not to participate in this year’s Grammy competition, having experienced numerous overlooks over the past nine years.
It was verified on Tuesday that Wallen’s group has decided not to enter his latest album, which includes 37 songs, in the competition for the 2026 Grammy Awards.
As reported by Hits Daily Double (who initially shared this information), the boycott encompasses all award categories, such as those for songwriting and best country solo performance, too.
The unique circumstance: His team doesn’t restrict other composers from contributing their own compositions to the project.
The choice is quite notable considering the impressive run of the “I’m the Problem” track, which yielded an astounding four No. 1 hits on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, as well as the successful collaboration with Tate McRae on their hit duet, “What I Want.

For the artist behind “Lies Lies Lies,” the decision might boil down to having no need for another accolade to prove his accomplishments, or perhaps an unease about fitting in within the setting.
This year, he caused a stir when he unexpectedly departed from Saturday Night Live, heading back to what is often referred to as “the land of God.
Instead of a customary post-show ritual where the audience and performers exchange hugs and chat informally until the credits finish, it’s said that he made a quick exit following the performance, heading straight for the airport.
During that period, Wallen’s group shared with Variety that he enjoyed his experience on the show and his abrupt departure and social media post were not intended to be disrespectful.
DailyMail.com has reached out to Wallen’s team for comment.
Wallen’s most recent action underscores a strained history he has had with the Recording Academy for approximately ten years.
The East Tennessee native has never earned a Grammy nomination for his solo work.
Earlier this year, he received acknowledgment primarily for his work with Post Malone on the song “I Had Some Help,” which earned two nominations but no victories.

That lack of recognition has become more glaring as Wallen’s star has risen.
In 2021, his double album titled “Dangerous” reached the top position on Billboard’s list of the best albums from the opening 25 years of the 21st century.
Yet the Grammy voters all but ignored him, even in the best new artist category.
It’s been suggested that the Grammy Awards may have intentionally excluded Wallen due to his tumultuous history and contentious issues.
In 2021, he was caught on video using a racial slur, sparking industry backlash.
He expressed his apologies and entered rehabilitation, during which time neither the Academy of Country Music nor the Country Music Association allowed him to be considered for awards eligibility for a full year.

Since then, Nashville has welcomed him back.
He’s scored 13 CMA nominations and took home entertainer of the year in 2024.
Since the scandal, he has been nominated for the ACM Awards 20 times, securing three victories. Among them is the award for Album of the Year for “Dangerous” and Male Artist of the Year in 2023.
While Wallen’s boycott is unusual, it’s not unheard of.
Instead of submitting new music, The Weeknd notably took a break following the release of his After Hours album and popular single, Blinding Lights, not receiving recognition in 2021.
At the time, he tweeted that the Grammys were ‘corrupt.’
Drake, too, has declined to participate, citing a lack of recognition for hip-hop.

After spending a full decade in the industry, Wallen, who catapulted to fame following his appearance on The Voice at the age of 20 in 2014, has confessed that he still finds celebrity status somewhat strange.
He expressed during the Last Weekend podcast that there were aspects of the situation, following his departure from SNL, which he didn’t appreciate. He further added that anyone having to cope with a similar scenario would likely find it less than perfect.
He went on to say that it’s not pleasant to venture everywhere, and although nothing specifically bothered you, you remained tense the entire time due to anticipation of potential disturbances. He further added that there are certain actions or activities one avoids nowadays, stating simply, ‘there are things you just don’t do anymore.’
When it comes to what he typically does during his leisure hours, Wallen mentioned that he often goes on hunting trips with friends in remote areas as a way to relax.
He jokingly remarked that it’s been a while since he last visited a bar, specifically referring to the infamous incident at Eric Church’s bar in Nashville, where he was arrested for tossing a chair off the roof after a wild night out.
