Ghost of Yōtei adds free co-op Legends mode in post-launch DLC

Before its official launch, it’s been announced that the game Ghost of Yōtei will include a free multiplayer mode as downloadable content later on.

2026 was an incredible year for us fans, and the standout announcement undoubtedly came from developer Sucker Punch – they confirmed that the long-awaited sequel to Ghost of Yōtei would include a Legends mode with a focus on cooperative gameplay! The best part? This exciting addition will be available as free DLC next year. Can’t wait!

Ghost of Yōtei co-op mode

Before its official debut, enthusiasts are already getting tantalizing previews. The highly-anticipated “Ghost of Yōtei” is scheduled for a worldwide release on October 2, 2025. First unveiled in September 2024, this game continues to create a stir, with much more information yet to be revealed.

At Gamescom 2025, host Geoff Keighley hinted that the Legends mode for Ghost of Yōtei would likely include a captivating supernatural tale and survival-based missions. Although specifics were not extensively discussed during the live broadcast, it can be inferred that this new mode may draw upon the spirit of its predecessor, Ghost of Tsushima.

Following its launch, the game later unveiled a cooperative mode, offering a combat-centric team-up take on the original single-player gameplay. This new mode allows 2 to 4 players, each choosing from four distinct classes, to embark on missions influenced by Japanese folklore and mythology together.

At present, there is still a lot that remains unknown about the cooperative mode for Ghost of Yōtei. However, the game plans to be among the most significant releases in 2025. Following the success of Ghost of Tsushima, we are eagerly anticipating how its sequel will fare.

In the year 1603, the game Ghost of Yōtei focuses on a potent motif of vengeance. This time around, players assume the role of Atsu, a strong female warrior, who embarks on a dangerous trek across Hokkaido, Japan. The narrative unfolds three decades after the events depicted in Ghost of Tsushima. The recently unveiled trailer hints at this core theme, providing a sneak peek into Atsu’s mission and the challenges that await her on her journey.
