Despite his well-known jovial demeanor, pantomime star Christopher Biggins has found himself incredibly frustrated due to the DVLA’s decision to revoke his driving privileges.
The 76-year-old winner of I’m A Celebrity expressed feelings of sadness (depressed) and anger (absolutely infuriated), as they declined to renew his license after a routine eye exam.
Following the expiration of his license this year, the DVLA reached out to inform him that a vision test was required for renewal. Consequently, Biggins underwent an eye exam at an optical shop located in Stratford, which is in the eastern part of London.
In about ten days, I received a letter from the DVLA informing me that I had not passed my test and therefore would not regain my license.
Later on, a physician at Homerton Hospital in east London declared him fit as a fiddle following an eye check-up, and he also aced an independent eye test at an optician’s office.
‘Regrettably, the information provided does not demonstrate your ability to comply with the necessary medical standards for driving.’

The actor maintained that his perspective remained unaltered, further stating, “It’s hard to ignore the opinions of a hospital doctor and another optometrist. This situation has greatly saddened me.
‘I travel a lot and I need to drive. Not long distance, for that I take the train.
I’m spending a small fortune on taxi rides, and I find it incredibly unfair. Their ‘no can do’ approach really gets me angry.”
The original sentence could be seen as too informal or colloquial for some contexts, so the paraphrased version is more suitable for professional or formal communication. Additionally, “infuriated” was replaced with “really gets me angry,” which may be easier to understand for a wider audience.
Labeling Labour’s proposal for drivers over 70 to undergo an eye test every three years as “shameful,” Biggins further expressed his concern that this measure could potentially lead to thousands of individuals unjustifiably losing their driving licenses.
Upon being reached out by Daily Mail, the ADVLA representative stated that due to confidentiality regarding individual cases, they are unable to provide comments. However, it is essential for all drivers to comply with the established minimum vision requirements in order to operate a vehicle.
The ability of a driver to pass the vision test may vary based on different methods, such as checking visual field and acuity, according to specific situations.
The regulations are meant for every driver. If an individual fails to measure up to these standards, they wouldn’t be permitted to drive.

After Christopher announced that he had started using weight loss medications like Mounjaro and Ozempic, he did so following his knee surgery.
The performer commended the drug’s efficacy and suggested potential additional advantages, yet admitted that much remained unclear regarding potential adverse reactions.
He shared with GB News that he is currently using Mounjaro, expressing his positive opinion about it. Given his recent knee replacement surgery, he felt it was necessary to shed some weight due to the strain on his knee.
Christopher mentioned that they are discovering that this medication can treat numerous other conditions, however, he pointed out that its potential side effects remain unknown at this time.
