2025’s Gamescom Opening Night Live event started with a bang, as Crunchyroll, Qzil.la, and ARCH unveiled their new collaboration, an anime adaptation of the game “Sekiro: No Defeat”!

At the kickoff event for gamescom 2025, it was revealed that Sekiro: No Defeat is an anime adaptation, drawn by hand and inspired by the video game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Set to premiere on Crunchyroll in 2026, this animated series will only be available there exclusively.

Kenichi Kutsuna, the director responsible for the adaptation, mentioned that transforming Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice into an anime is an enormous endeavor, as they are investing all their creative energy and enthusiasm into it.

Kutsuna mentioned that the end result is designed to create an unforgettable experience, something that will etch a deep impression not only on seasoned gamers familiar with Sekiro, but also on newcomers venturing into the world of Sekiro for the first time. He encourages everyone to anticipate it eagerly.

According to Asa Suehira, Crunchyroll’s top content executive, he too expressed his thoughts regarding the announcement. To Mr. Suehira, the anime adaptation of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice stands out for its precision and intensity, qualities that are brilliantly maintained in the adaptation.

Here’s the complete trailer for Sekiro: No Defeat, an anime set in war-ravaged Japan. The land of Ashina is under attack from the Interior Ministry, causing great distress. To safeguard his homeland, Genichiro embarks on a journey to harness forbidden powers. Simultaneously, the abducted Divine Heir and his guardian, Sekiro, embark on a mission to reestablish balance.

Sekiro: No Defeat cast and creators
