The upcoming BBC drama titled “Riot Women,” produced by Sally Wainwright of “Happy Valley” fame, is set to be released in October. A tantalizing first trailer for the series has been unveiled, offering a captivating blend of chaos and rebellious spirit.
Set in West Yorkshire, a fresh six-episode show is on its way. It centers around five women going through menopause, who choose to create a punk rock group amidst balancing their professional lives, caring for kids, elderly parents, and personal relationships.
The summary indicates that the team discovers they have far more reasons to celebrate than they had initially thought.

The film “Riot Women” features an engaging ensemble, with Lorraine Ashbourne (“Sherwood”), Joanna Scanlan (“Slow Horses”), Amelia Bullmore (“The Jetty”), Tamsin Greig (“Friday Night Dinner”, “Suspect”) and Rosalie Craig (“Moonflower Murders”) among its talented actors.
According to the BBC’s latest disclosure, more specifics about the characters have been unveiled. These prominent actors will portray diverse roles including a teacher, a police officer, a pub owner, a midwife, and a freeloader who shopslifts, collectively forming the core female members of the band.

Alongside Amit Shah from “Happy Valley,” Taj Atwal of “Line of Duty,” Anne Reid known for “The Sixth Commandment,” Sue Johnston famed in “The Royle Family,” Claire Skinner starring in “Outnumbered,” Mark Bazeley recognized from “Broadchurch,” Kevin Doyle popular from “Downton Abbey,” and Chandeep Uppal who appeared in “Anita and Me” are also part of this cast.
Previously, Sally Wainwright, who is both a creator, writer, and executive producer, expressed her immense enthusiasm by stating that she’s “never been more thrilled about a project than this one,” furthermore extolling the “exceptionally talented actresses gracing our screens as the Riot Women.
Sally Wainwright has previously created BBC dramas such as Happy Valley, Last Tango in Halifax, and Gentleman Jack. Her latest TV production, Renegade Nell, premiered on Disney+ in the year 2024.
