I Didn’t Have Ben Stiller’s Musical Mash-up For Severance And Zoolander On My Bingo Card, But This Marching Band Video Is A++++

It’s been five months since the heart-wrenching Season 2 finale of Severance aired on the 2025 TV schedule, and even now, I find myself getting thrilled at the mere mention of an ORTBO (this happens more frequently than you might imagine in my household) or when I reminisce about Mr. Milchick’s marching band performance. As much as a fan as I am, I never would have anticipated that the Apple TV+ series would make an appearance during a screening of Zoolander, another one of Ben Stiller’s masterpieces. Yet, here we are, enjoying this unexpected and delightful musical mash-up that I never knew I needed.

On August 16th, a screening for the 2001 comedy “Zoolander” took place at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Unexpectedly, Ben Stiller appeared as the main character, showcasing an over-the-top version of himself, to introduce the movie. But the surprises didn’t end there! The USC marching band marched onto the stage, headed by none other than Tramell Tillman. Catch a glimpse of this exciting spectacle on Instagram!

Certainly, Kier’s performance was commendable! While Tramell Tillman’s chilling portrayal of Mr. Milchick was quite thrilling, Ben Stiller (as Derek Zoolander) seemed to expect something more fitting the night’s theme, as reported by Variety:

That’s terrific, yet it seems the direction is leaning more towards a style reminiscent of Zoolander rather than Severance. Perhaps you might consider playing a tune with a Zoolanderesque flair instead?

In an Emmy-nominated moment, Tramell Tillman swiftly blew his whistle, prompting the band to launch into Powerman 5000’s “Relax,” a song from the movie. This move delighted both the filmmaker and the audience, who erupted in cheers as the band exited the stage, allowing the movie to start.

Although Ben Stiller played key roles in both “Severance” and “Zoolander”, it’s unlikely anyone would have predicted a musical collaboration between them. Yet, this man always seems to bring surprises, as I never thought the finale of “Severance” Season 2 would include such an elaborate song performance.

In the highly acclaimed Music Dance Experience scene from the first season of “Severance,” it was one of the standout musical moments of that year. Consequently, it was expected that Ben Stiller and his team would elevate the experience in Season 2, and they certainly did just that. The significant leap was evident when Milchick engaged in a witty exchange with an animatronic Kier Eagan, followed by an energetic performance to commemorate Mark S.’s successful completion of the Cold Harbor file, assuming the role of a band leader.

It’s clear that the quality of the second season of Severance has been widely recognized, as evidenced by its record-breaking 27 Emmy nominations for both the show and its cast. This upcoming awards ceremony will provide something exciting to anticipate while we endure the gap between seasons of Severance.

While details about the plot of “Severance” Season 3 remain unknown, it’s clear that it will tackle the frustrating move made by Mark (Adam Scott) in the finale’s conclusion. In the interim, fans can enjoy rewatching the first two seasons using their Apple TV+ subscriptions – you might even catch a glimpse of Tramell Tillman and the USC marching band again. On a different note, “Zoolander” is accessible for streaming with either Netflix or Paramount+ subscription.
