Olly Murs and his wife Amelia spoke openly and honestly as they shared insights on parenthood, just before welcoming their second baby into the world.
Last year, a 40-year-old singer and a 32-year-old fitness enthusiast became parents to a 16-month-old girl named Madison, and they are expecting their second child in the coming month.
Although eager to grow their family, they recently opened up in an interview about some of the difficulties they encounter while parenting, confessing that it’s not always filled with joy and picture-perfect moments on social media.
In a conversation with OK!, Amelia admitted that motherhood can sometimes feel isolating, elaborating on her struggles following the birth of Madison.
She intended for a natural childbirth, but due to Madi being in a potentially dangerous position and being positioned sideways (transverse), we weren’t given a choice.
The bodybuilder expressed surprise at the intense nature of her recovery process and struggled with the challenge of limiting her time at the gym, which is a source of great passion for her.

Amelia mentioned that the recovery process was extremely tough, and she felt disappointed that people weren’t more open about its challenges. Given her active lifestyle, she hadn’t anticipated just how limited she would be following the recovery.
She continued by expressing that she has been striving to be more transparent about the challenges of being a parent, as Olly has been absent.
Olly emphasized the importance of honesty, stating, “Let’s not pretend everything is perfect on social media with constant positivity. I’m open about it – being a parent is incredibly rewarding yet incredibly challenging.
Due to her pregnancy, Amelia has had limited time for her regular gym visits, as it’s one of her favorite hobbies. It’s important to maintain one’s identity during this period, so it’s all about striking a balance.
In July 2023, the pair got married, and they revealed in April that they are anticipating their second baby. They shared this exciting news in a heartwarming black-and-white video on Instagram.
Three-person family strolled through the park, with Madison riding on her dad’s shoulders, donning a denim jacket bearing the phrase ‘BIG SIS’. Meanwhile, Amelia carried a roll of photos from a baby ultrasound.
They penned in a caption: ‘We’re so egg-cited to share this..… Another Baby Murs on the way.
A year later, they shared news of another significant event – a new pregnancy – which followed their initial announcement about the birth of their daughter on April 17, last year.

Olly mentioned that he intends to be more involved this time, having left only 48 hours after Amelia gave birth to join Take That on tour, but now he’s planning to stay longer at home.
In an interview with The Sunday Times Magazine, he shared, “Just two days after the birth of Madison, I had to embark on a tour supporting Take That. Amelia had significant support as her mother stayed with her and my parents reside close by in Essex; however, it was challenging, and I felt a profound sense of guilt.
As a die-hard admirer, let me say this: I get the fact that what I do isn’t your average 9-to-5 grind. But
Earlier this month, the ex-contestant on The X Factor openly shared that he cried upon being compelled to depart from Amelia and their freshly born baby, only two days following the delivery.
As a doting father, I can’t help but confess that months later, the realization still weighs heavy on me – I never had the chance to bond with my little one as a baby, before she grew up. It’s an emotional burden I carry, being deprived of those precious early moments with my daughter.
During a chat with Mark Wright on their Heart Breakfast program, Olly candidly shared: “Leaving just two days after our newborn arrived for the Take That tour was quite challenging for me.
In simpler terms, he said that at the moment, he hadn’t fully processed the situation. Later, after a few months, while talking with Amelia, he found himself overwhelmed with emotions and began crying because he had never had a chance to truly connect with the baby.
In a show of solidarity with his friend who decided to prioritize work over family, Mark commented: “You were making these sacrifices for her bright future.

During Take That tours, Olly would hurry back to his home in Essex after concerts, to enjoy time with Amelia and Madison.
As a die-hard fan excitedly recounting an exclusive peek from TopMob in April, Olly shared: “This past week, I found myself at home, tackling diapers, enduring those restless nights, and longing for the thrill of being on tour!
Just kidding! Honestly, she is absolutely amazing. To be honest, becoming a father was not something I ever expected, so it still feels a bit surreal.”
The revised version retains the original meaning while using more natural and easy-to-read language, making the sentence flow smoothly and sound more conversational. The use of “just kidding” in the first part is maintained to indicate that the previous statement was meant as a joke. In the second part, the phrase “truly awesome” is replaced with “absolutely amazing,” which conveys similar positive sentiment towards the woman being referred to. In the third and fourth parts, the original phrases “never thought I’d be a dad” and “can’t quite believe it” are combined into a single sentence for clarity and coherence, while using “becoming a father was not something I ever expected” instead of “I never thought I’d be a dad.” Finally, to make the sentence more natural, “To be honest” is added at the beginning of the last part to indicate that what follows is a truthful statement.
With a triumphant gesture towards himself, Olly exclaimed, “It functions! I couldn’t be more elated, absolutely thrilled, and to top it all off, being on this tour has been the icing on the cake. What an incredible moment in my life!
