When someone mentions they haven’t begun reading Star Wars comics, it’s often due to one major reason: They’re unsure where to jump in. With numerous ongoing series spanning hundreds of Star Wars stories since 2015 (excluding the Legends comics), finding a starting point can be intimidating, causing many to hesitate or avoid starting altogether.

There are some outstanding Star Wars comic series that make great entry points for people interested in diving into this distinctive style of storytelling set in a distant galaxy. Since 2018, I’ve been providing recommendations on Star Wars books and comics to enthusiasts, and have personally been immersed in the Star Wars universe for many years. Doctor Aphra (2016) by Kieron Gillen and Simon Spurrier

In the 2015 Darth Vader comic series, Aphra makes her first appearance. Don’t worry if you jump in here; you’ll swiftly get to know Aphra and her knack for causing chaos. After that, you can delve into Alyssa Wong’s 2020 storyline, and then progress to the current Chaos Agent series as well.

When it comes to diving into Star Wars comics, many people would first point you towards Charles Soule’s 2017 Darth Vader series. This recommendation is well-deserved given that Soule has penned over a hundred Star Wars comics and counting, demonstrating an exceptional knack for captivating storytelling in this medium. Even if Vader isn’t your preferred character, this series serves as an excellent starting point due to its high-quality narrative.

As a devoted Star Wars fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about diving into this captivating comic series! Unlike some complex graphic novels, this one is perfectly suited for anyone who has enjoyed the Star Wars saga. Since it picks up right after the epic events of “Revenge of the Sith”, it feels like an extension of the cinematic universe we all love.

The story follows none other than Darth Vader on a mesmerizing, nearly 20-year journey. This journey is filled with Vader’s relentless pursuit of immortality, attempts to resurrect his beloved wife, and even the construction of an incredible castle on a lava-covered planet.
