While working on the Academy Award-winning movie “Black Swan,” Mila Kunis shared that she had to keep a significant distance from the food service area (craft services table).
42-year-old actress shared in a conversation with her co-star Natalie Portman and director Darren Aronofsky during an interview that she barely consumed any food during the shooting of the 2010 drama.
She shared with Vogue that her preparation primarily involved dancing rather than consuming much food, although she acknowledged that this might not be the recommended approach.
‘I drank a lot of broth and danced for 12 hours a day.’
In an interview, the lead actress of “The Luckiest Girl Alive” disclosed that initially, we were meant to prepare for just three months before shooting commenced. However, due to some financial issues, the funding was reduced, which subsequently extended our prep period to six months as Darren searched for additional funds.
‘It sucked for Darren, but Nat and I were so happy because we had three extra months to dance.’

On a tight budget of just $13 million, this intense psychological production was filmed in a quick span of 42 days once shooting started.
‘We didn’t have any rehearsals beyond the dancing,’ Portman, 44, said.
‘During my year of rigorous physical training, I unexpectedly found myself engaging in countless conversations with my coach, a retired New York City Ballet dancer. Over these discussions, he shared captivating stories that painted a vivid picture and offered unique insights into the ballet world.’
‘It was like doing investigative journalism, but I was just gossiping with her while doing pliés.’
In her revelation, Kunis shared that we filmed the dance scenes for an extended period, and she ended up with numerous rib bruises due to being lifted repeatedly during the process.
‘Early on during the project, I dislocated my shoulder and feared I was in a terrible predicament. However, Darren suggested I visit an acupuncturist, and miraculously, I made a full recovery.’
This version maintains the original’s meaning while using simpler language that is more conversational.
In the movie, Natalie Portman’s character, Nina, is promoted as the principal dancer for the upcoming performance of Swan Lake, following the retirement of the previous leading ballerina.
Kunis’ dance performances are quite promising and pose a challenge for Nina, as she strives to maintain her leading position amidst the competition.

In simpler terms, the ladies claim that at age 56, Aronofsky attempted to generate a comparable level of tension among them, despite Portman suggesting Kunis for the role.
Darren told me that Nat is putting in an extraordinary amount of effort, even skipping her days off on Saturdays and Sundays. When I texted Nat about it, she seemed slightly surprised and replied, ‘Am I?’ That’s how we realized what Darren was saying, all in a playful manner.
Portman won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Black Swan.
Fans with a fondness for reliving the enchantment, or those just discovering it, take note! “Black Swan” is set to be re-released exclusively for two days, specifically on the 21st and 24th of August, in IMAX cinemas.
