This month, Love Island’s Matilda Draper and her boyfriend from TOWIE (The Only Way Is Essex), Roman Hackett, joined the list of celebrities who shared details about their religious beliefs and underwent baptism.
The 25-year-old participant of Love Island and the 23-year-old cast member of TOWIE, who have been in a relationship since late last year, posted a video on social media that captured their spiritual event. This special occasion was attended by their dearest friends and family members.
Standing on the stage, donning identical shirts bearing the phrase “Born for More”, Matilda courageously shared about her struggles with social anxiety that significantly impacted her life. However, she found solace and overcame these challenges by placing her faith in Jesus.
Notable personalities like Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, survival expert Bear Grylls, and television presenter Scarlett Moffatt, among others, have publicly expressed their religious beliefs in the past.
Some celebrities had a religious background, while others found spirituality later in life as they chose to reform their wild lifestyle and reflect upon past mistakes.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but reflect on how Matilda and Roman’s public display of their baptism has inspired me to ponder over fellow reality stars who have embarked on spiritual journeys. It’s truly fascinating!

Matilda Draper and Roman Hackett

Last month, television personalities Matilda and Roman publicly declared their faith by getting baptized together, as seen in a video they posted.
She mentioned that God appeared when she was feeling stagnant or defeated, sharing that she had struggled with social anxiety a few years back, an issue that strained her relationships with loved ones, impacted her work life, and overall affected how she navigated daily living.
Instead of depending solely on myself, I shifted my faith towards Jesus, which led to a significant transformation in my life. Now, every morning, I awake with a renewed sense of positivity, confidence, self-awareness, gratitude, and hope – all thanks to him.
As I encounter more obstacles, I’m confident that my faith in God remains unwavering. Today, I reaffirm my commitment to walk with Him wholeheartedly.
After delivering her speech, Matilda shared a kiss with Roman, following which another video clip displayed them both standing submerged in a pool of water, each undergoing individual baptisms separately.
After their baptism, the duo appeared more joyful than before, embracing in celebration of their faith.
She wrote: “This was the most memorable day of my life and one we’ll hold dear for all eternity. Being baptized alongside each other with our loved ones present created an atmosphere that vividly symbolized God’s unwavering loyalty.
I’m deeply grateful to be strolling hand-in-hand along the path of faith and affection, accompanied by my most cherished companion. I eagerly anticipate this expedition as I take my subsequent stride in my spiritual journey with Christ ✨ Praise be to God continually!!
In Christ Jesus, the tranquility that surpasses all human comprehension will protect your thoughts and feelings.
East 17’s Terry Coldwell

During his baptism in June, Chris Lambrianou, a previous associate of the Kray twins and an ex-gangster, briefly submerged Terry Coldwell’s head under water for several seconds.
In London’s East End, the River Church witnessed Terry, aged 50, join a group of seven individuals who had embraced Christianity again, by being baptized in a pool as a public proclamation of their belief.
After the conversation with TopMob, he shared that he had recently been baptized and was feeling fantastic. He expressed that the service on that day was simply extraordinary.
‘I just feel great. I feel it was a long time coming and I’m really glad I did it.’
Terry became famous during the ’90s alongside his bandmates Tony Mortimer, Brian Harvey, and John Hendy, as part of the group East 17.
The band has achieved global success, having sold more than 18 million albums worldwide, and they claimed the top spot on the UK charts for Christmas in 1994 with their hit single “Stay Another Day.
Over time, the band East 17 has experienced numerous shifts in its members. However, Terry continues to be a consistent presence. Now, he performs alongside Joe Livermore, as well as Robbie Craig, who previously worked with Artful Dodger.
Adam Peaty

In simpler terms, it was shared by Olympic swimmer Adam that his faith helped him overcome struggles with alcoholism, depression, and estrangement from the mother of his son, Eirianedd Munro. His fiancée is Holly Ramsay.
After a hiatus, he resumed swimming and took part in the Paris Olympics this year, winning a silver medal that now adorns his collection of awards.
Adam, aged 30, hailing from Staffordshire, was brought up as a Catholic and has maintained a somewhat spiritual inclination throughout his life. However, in more recent times, he has become a regular attendee at an Evangelical Church, often going there on Sundays.
He currently identifies as a spiritual individual and shared with The Times, “I prefer to prioritize my faith and my connection with Jesus over material wealth like gold.
Every single day, I unwaveringly find myself kneeling down for prayer, and today, I’ve added another piece to my extensive tattoo collection – a cross permanently etched onto my body. My devotion knows no bounds!
Adam revealed he had popped the question to Gordon Ramsay’s 25-year-old daughter Holly last year.
In an Instagram post, the Olympic swimmer expressed gratitude towards his fiancée for accompanying him to church and fitting seamlessly into our remarkable community, with no hesitation.
In an Instagram post, the Olympic swimmer thanked his fiancée for attending church with him and becoming a cherished member of our extraordinary community without any reservations.
Additionally, he referenced a verse from Matthew 19:6: “For this reason, a man and a woman are not two separate individuals any longer, but they become one. So it is that whatever God has brought together, nobody should attempt to tear apart.
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Holly Ramsay expressed that she is excitedly preparing to marry her cherished friend, as she eagerly anticipates becoming his spouse.
In a similar vein, the influencer shared a personal reflection drawn from the Bible, stating: “Indeed, only three things last forever: faith, hope, and love. Yet, love is the most significant among them.” (1 Corinthians 13:13)
Bear Grylls

Another well-known figure, like the bear, hasn’t been hesitant about publicly embracing his Christian beliefs, and was additionally part of Russell Brand’s baptism ceremony.
He is a highly recognized Christian figure in Britain, who has been featured in promotional materials for the Alpha course – an introductory evangelical program on Christianity, which claims to have attracted approximately 29 million new adherents to the religion.
In his 2004 publication titled “Facing the Frozen Ocean”, the 50-year-old thrill-seeker expressed that it’s impossible to exclude God. He suggested that if we quiet ourselves enough, we can perceive His presence, which surrounds us everywhere.
According to the Mail’s Richard Eden, Bear Grylls, known as the Chief Scout and a close friend of the Prince and Princess of Wales, participated in Brand’s river baptism in the Thames during May.
In simpler terms, Grylls stated that moments of faith and spirituality in our lives are deeply personal, yet it’s an honor to be by someone’s side when they humbly seek forgiveness and strength from a higher power.
‘Friendships when we go through tough times are worth so much.’
Dermot O’Leary

Each evening, the host Dermot, hailing from Colchester, joins the ranks of other celebrities by setting aside time for prayer.
After tucking his four-year-old son Kasper in for the night and completing his tasks, he sets aside some time for quiet reflection and conversation with a higher power.
The newspaper reported him saying, “Faith has traditionally served as a means of uniting people within the Irish immigrant community.
As a child, we often journeyed together to Colchester for Mass, where we’d reunite with friends and relatives. Following the service, many of us would gather at a local pub for a traditional Sunday roast dinner.
My faith plays a significant role in my daily routine, and it brings me great joy – an enchanting link to my beloved home.
Sacha Jones

Last year’s MAFS UK participant confided that turning towards faith enabled her to endure the challenges of 2024.
She wrote on social media on January 1: ‘How I survived 2024. Glory to God!
I wouldn’t enjoy all these marvelous aspects of my life if it weren’t for his plan. The year 2024 was challenging, but I am incredibly fortunate to have the resilience, gifts, and divine presence that I feel from the Lord. Thank you.
Sacha found herself devastated when Ross McCarthy ended their marriage just a few days following the conclusion of their series.
As a devoted partner, I found myself caught off guard when my husband, once committed to our union after moving together from Walsall to Manchester for our marriage, suddenly ended things without much reasoning.
Following his baptism in October 2024, Sacha posted photos and wrote: “Here’s my baptism ceremony. This year has been extraordinary because my spiritual journey with God has transformed my life!
I’m deeply grateful to my cherished family and friends who took time out of their day to express affection and offer unwavering support, regardless of their perspectives. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have such exceptional individuals in my life.
Katie Salmon

In 2016, during her participation in the second season of Love Island, Katie achieved popularity and set a precedent by forming the series’ first same-sex couple with the late Sophie Gradon.
Afterwards, she remained in the spotlight due to her unusual behavior. This involved getting banned permanently from the Cheltenham Festival for exposing herself to spectators; posting adult content on OnlyFans; and facing police interrogation following an altercation that necessitated a hospital visit.
Over the last couple of years, I’ve been on an emotional rollercoaster. After welcoming my precious little Thaiga into the world at age two, I grappled with postpartum depression. The grief I felt when my former fiancé, Harry, passed away was unbearable. To add to it all, I found myself standing before a court in July, charged with assault. It’s been one tough journey, but I’m holding on tight and fighting through each day.
On the 11th of July, Katie made an appearance at Northampton Crown Court, facing accusations of physically attacking Jyssica Memory.
She shared the news that Harry had sadly passed away in December 2024, following which she took some time to regroup, mourn, and spend quality time with her toddler during the holiday season before honoring him with a tribute.
Katie parted ways with her partner, businessman Joe Rossi, in September 2022, approximately six months following the birth of their first child together. Prior to this, she was with Harry.
After reaching ‘breaking point’, Katie turned to religion and was baptised in 2023.
Sharing pictures from her baptism, as well as some more lively photos that she’s recently removed from her profile, Katie posted an update: “It’s been three months since my baptism… ✨
After reaching a critical stage in my life, I discovered optimism and tranquility amidst the turbulence. Regardless, I’ll continue to celebrate his influence and the transformation he brought about in my life.
‘God is my rescuer, and in this world that’s filled with wickedness, suffering, and evil people, I believe there’s an escape route for everyone, regardless of understanding. There’s hope and grandeur in His name.’
I’d like to emphasize that this is not about sharing personal experiences or jumping on a bandwagon related to the idea that God influenced me to stop displaying revealing outfits, posting explicit images of myself online, or wearing heavy makeup.
He didn’t interfere with my actions, instead, he cherished me for being myself and encouraged me to see myself as he sees me.
In simpler terms, what I’ve discovered is a profound, personal connection with the Lord, beyond any organized religion. My aim is to respect Him, His teachings, and those who follow Him.
My inner and outer world have undergone significant transformations, which might reflect in my posts. Changes include my appearance, finances, and wardrobe, yet I feel more like myself than ever before.
Regardless of the uncertain days when I can’t make sense of the world, I’ll still express my gratitude to you, as your presence and love are unwavering, even in moments of error. Thanks a bunch, Jesus ❤️
Glyn Wise

As a passionate enthusiast, I found myself stepping into the limelight at the tender age of 18 during the seventh season of Big Brother back in 2006, an immensely prominent show on Channel 4.
Although Glyn, who is currently 37 years old and has been a Christian since birth, admitted that he found himself drawn into London’s bustling nightlife as he acclimated to his newfound fame following his second-place finish in the competition, with Pete Bennett emerging as the winner.
He found it challenging to acclimate to his sudden fame, acknowledging that his deep-rooted faith in Christianity took a backseat due to constant invitations to red carpet functions, high-profile gatherings, and film openings.
Previously, he shared with TopMob that he found himself attending numerous parties and movie openings, yet beneath the surface, he felt a profound loneliness. During this time, he distanced himself from his faith. Caught up in the dazzle of fame, he felt he had lost his authentic self. He recognized the need to re-establish his bearings.
‘I had become someone I hardly recognised, but yet everyone else felt as though they knew me.’
In the previous year, I was overjoyed when my beloved shared his intentions to dedicate himself entirely to our Divine Creator. Excitedly, I learned that he’s preparing himself in north London to become a priest, a path I eagerly follow and support from afar.
Following the widespread COVID outbreak, Glyn found himself back in the UK. Soon after, his duties in China transitioned into a new position as a Pastoral Assistant at St. Michael’s Church in Camden.
He officially announced he had been ordained to become a deacon in June.
The well-known television personality shared a photo with his 15,000 followers, where he was wearing a black shirt and a clerical collar, indicating that he had received official ordination.
He penned: ‘This is Rev Glyn – I’m coming to get you!
Today marks my first day as an ordained minister, and I’m thrilled to say that years of diligence, devotion, and learning have finally come to fruition. As Jesus said in Matthew 19:26, ‘With God all things are possible.’ I am eager to emulate the disciples from the Acts of the Apostles, sharing the Gospel message far and wide.
Faith Mullen

25-year-old Faith joined the reality series Geordie Shore while maintaining her Christian faith, causing viewers’ interest in witnessing how she managed her moral compass amidst accusations that the show endorsed excessive drinking and casual relationships.
When she was 19, she made her debut on series 18 of Geordie Shore and shared with TopMob that her beliefs align seamlessly with the show’s lifestyle. She likened Jesus’ first miracle – transforming water into wine – to not shying away from a good time. The other cast members were supportive of this perspective.
Despite having initially appeared on the show, Faith’s tenure proved to be brief. Unfortunately, she was let go after about a year due to an incident that occurred during a night of drinking in Newcastle, which involved some form of disagreement or dispute.
In simpler terms, she admitted to getting lost and battling alcohol addiction, stating that her connection with God was lacking or absent.
This year, Faith revealed that she made a decision to live alcohol-free and reaffirm her faith, sharing with her Instagram audience: “Exactly 12 months ago, I awoke and realized that if I didn’t alter my ways and seek help that very day, I might not have much more time left.
Over extended periods, I grappled with excessive alcohol consumption that resulted in the deterioration of personal relationships, friendships, job stability, and causing immense concern among my nearest and dearest. My emotional well-being plummeted to such depths that self-harm became a recurring action for me.
Following the therapy, regardless of any strained connection I may have had with God, I’ve finally stopped making excuses for past behaviors. Even at my most challenging times, I doubt that many understood just how difficult things truly were for me.”
This version maintains the original sentiment but uses more natural and easier-to-read language to help convey the intended message in a clearer manner.
She added: “Despite traveling to the Dominican Republic for an extraordinary chance provided by the BBC to transform my life, upon my return, I quickly reverted to my old habits. Scarcely 48 hours after landing back home, I was already struggling, stumbling home following another late-night episode.
Time and time again, finding myself awake, declaring changes were needed, only to repeat the same actions for several weeks straight. It wasn’t until after Loosefest, after promising I wouldn’t drink, and unfortunately experiencing another blackout, that I awoke.
Having reached a point where I had isolated myself from everyone, I chose to humble myself and seek aid from individuals who shared similar experiences. That evening, I attended an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, still under the influence, yet graciously received by kind-hearted individuals.
After several weeks of abstinence and attending meetings spread across the north-east region, God led me back to the church where I was raised. Shortly after, I realized that my church community would be more beneficial for me on a personal level. However, I continue to adhere to the principles taught by Alcoholics Anonymous.
I was able to overcome alcohol addiction only within the confines of my Lord’s residence. It’s amazing how much growth and stability I’ve experienced here in just a year. I feel incredibly grounded in my identity because of him.
Now, I’ve become the daughter that my mom always believed I could be, following a ten-year journey filled with prayers. I’ve managed to emerge from it all. I am now free from the grip of Satan.
Living at home with family allows me to not only maintain a steady career but excel in it. My circle of friends may be small, yet the relationships I do have are nurturing, built on mutual respect and positive intentions.
365 days without consuming alcohol or illicit substances, I stand before you as living proof of the transformative power of faith.
Scarlett Moffatt

Scarlett, aged 34, swiftly earned the title of television’s shining star as she debuted alongside her family on Channel 4’s Gogglebox.
Through her humble demeanor and sharp sense of humor, she managed to secure a spot on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, eventually earning the title of ‘Queen of the Jungle’, following a triumph over Joel Dommett in the competition.
As a dedicated admirer, I couldn’t help but feel deeply moved when Scarlett shared her heartfelt journey in 2022. She confided that she found solace and a new sense of purpose by embracing Christianity following an enlightening spiritual pilgrimage that stirred deep contemplation within her soul.
Previously known as a cast member on “Gogglebox,” she delved into her religious convictions while journeying through Ireland and Scotland in BBC2’s series titled “Pilgrimage: The Road to the Scottish Isles.” Accompanied by fellow celebrities, she interacted with monks, priests, and numerous other notable figures during this spiritual expedition.
In my recent conversation with Richard Madeley and Kate Garraway on Good Morning Britain, I shared that I’m gradually embracing life as a Christian following my open expression of faith on the program.
During her life’s adventure, she discovered that she hadn’t given religion much thought as a child, but along the way, she took the opportunity to explore and understand its deeper significance.
During the show, she shared that she had spent 15 consecutive days traveling, making it seem like an entire year to her. Her grandfather was deeply religious, and whenever she felt down, she would offer a prayer. However, she wasn’t entirely certain about her own religious beliefs and was eager to discover what religion signified to her on a personal level.
The ideas presented were truly mind-expanding. Usually, I’m engrossed in my phone or socializing with friends, but today, I found myself pondering instead.
Currently, I identify as Christian, though I’m still adjusting to this new identity. Recently, we spent time living with monks, exchanging thoughts on our respective beliefs. During these conversations, I found myself articulating my religion and convictions, and in doing so, I realized how profoundly meaningful it is to me.
