Perrie Edwards reveals her agoraphobia ‘got so bad she could barely leave the house’ last year as she opens up on her crippling anxiety

In a recent, open conversation, Perrie Edwards shared that her agoraphobia became extremely severe last year, making it difficult for her to step outside her home.

The 32-year-old vocalist opened up about her debilitating anxiety to the Telegraph, confessing that she faces greater challenges relaxing at home compared to performing on stage.

On stage as a pop star, I truly shine – I feel fearless and strong,” Perrie put it simply.

At home, once the doors are shut, it’s then that my anxiety surfaces, leaving me back to being myself.

she mentioned: ‘It’s hard for me not to overthink minor issues, such as the routine task of driving from here to London.’ or
she pointed out: ‘I find myself worrying excessively about trivial matters, like a simple journey to London by car.’

Agoraphobia is a condition where individuals experience intense anxiety and tend to avoid specific locations or circumstances due to fears of having a panic attack, feeling confined, powerless, or humiliated. This fear can extend to anticipated situations as well.

This year, Perrie openly discussed her struggle with panic disorder, revealing her concern that it could potentially lead to her passing away.

Previously of Little Mix, the band member admitted that being by herself for extended periods makes her uncomfortable due to concerns about experiencing a severe panic attack that might be life-endangering, as she doesn’t have someone nearby to assist if needed.

During an appearance on Alison Hammond’s Big Weekend, Perrie welcomed the host into her home and discussed candidly how anxiety has impacted her daily routine.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’d like to share a personal experience that might resonate with some of you. Over time, I’ve been diagnosed with Panic Disorder – a condition characterized by persistent fear or anxiety about experiencing panic attacks. A few years back, I found myself grappling with debilitating episodes of severe panic attacks.

Afterward, I began to feel anxious about experiencing another panic attack since I thought, if I’m alone and have one, there’s a chance I could suffer serious consequences, and no one would be around to provide assistance.

She frankly remarked, “That’s the reason I’m never alone, not ever. I’m constantly with someone else. I dislike the sensation of fearing my own mortality.

Right now, she’s actively sharing her latest single titled “If He Wanted To He Would,” which she revealed on Instagram just a few days ago.

In 2021, Perrie became a mother to baby Axel, accompanied by her boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. They announced their upcoming marriage in the year of 2022.

More recently, she reminisced about the instance when she first confessed her love for Alex during the initial stages of their relationship.

On the Capital Evening Show, hosted by Jimmy Hill, she shared that she accidentally confessed her romantic feelings.

In everyday life, she finds it challenging to express herself accurately, but in her music, she feels that it’s a different story. She recalls the first time she told Alex she loved him, which occurred during a night out with her Little Mix companions who were encouraging her. Interestingly, she happened to have a frying pan at hand for some reason.

Since Alex mentioned his fondness for pancakes, I went out of my way to purchase a frying pan for us, and fortunately, we ended up getting it at a promotional price.

While out for the evening, I found myself carrying an unexpected kitchen utensil – a frying pan. As thoughts drifted through my mind, I mused, ‘Tomorrow, I’ll surprise him with more than just dreams coming true; I’ll prepare him a delightful breakfast of pancakes.’

In a continuation, the performer expressed: “I recall telling the friends, ‘I believe I have feelings for him… and I think he feels the same way’, to which they replied, ‘Then express your feelings to him’. My friends bolstered me with immense determination, and I was eager to take action.

But when it came to the big moment, the singer admitted that she was ‘speechless’.

Instead of saying exactly what she did, let me rephrase it as follows: ‘She exclaimed, “I must be losing my heart to you,” quite forcefully, as she was finding it hard to express herself, feeling overwhelmed and her pulse racing in her mind.’

After managing to get her words out, she revealed that Alex said he was in love with her too.
