Fans have been given a sneak peek by the Royal Shakespeare Company of Ncuti Gatwa in his fresh character for the stage production “Born With Teeth“.
In this fresh production penned by Liz Duffy Adams, Ncuti Gatwa, famously known for his role in “Doctor Who,” assumes the character of Kit Marlowe. Simultaneously, Edward Bluemel, a former cast member from “Sex Education,” steps into the shoes of William Shakespeare.
In the year 1591, the novel “Born With Teeth” unfolds, chronicling the compelling story of two playwrights who find themselves unexpectedly teaming up creatively over a series of clandestine meetings. This captivating work offers a tantalizing glimpse into the complex relationship between two literary giants grappling with societal constraints.
The play, titled “Born With Teeth, is a creative and bold portrayal suggesting what might have been if two renowned literary figures worked together on the plays about Henry VI. This work explores their potential relationship amidst a period that was particularly perilous for artists.

The initial striking visuals display the actors perfectly embodying their characters, sporting voluminous Renaissance-era shirts.
I’m thrilled to be teaming up with Edward Bluemel on the outstanding production, Born With Teeth. Liz Duffy Adams has crafted a brilliant play that is intelligent, edgy, sensual, witty, and humorous!
There’s plenty to sink your teeth into. This isn’t any familiar take on Shakespeare and Marlowe; it’s an entirely new experience. I’m eagerly anticipating the moment when audiences hop aboard this journey with us.

Bluemel expressed great pride and excitement about collaborating with Ncuti Gatwa and Daniel Evans for the European premiere of “Born With Teeth”. Stepping into the role of a young William Shakespeare is an enormous joy for any actor, and he can hardly contain his anticipation to begin work on it.
Reading Liz Duffy Adams’ script, I found myself quickly immersed in the intense, cutthroat realm of these competing playwrights, captivated by their electrifying, inventive rapport.

The band Born With Teeth is set to perform at Wyndham’s Theatre in London for an exclusive 11-week run, starting from August 13. You can secure your tickets right away!
