It appears that the possibility of Cheryl Hines working alongside her long-term TV partner, Larry David, in a future project is rapidly diminishing, according to reports by Daily Mail, with the Obamas potentially being the cause.
A well-known humorist and scriptwriter has been unveiled as currently developing a fresh comedy series for HBO to celebrate America’s 250th birthday next year. The former president and his spouse are expected to assume the role of executive producers in this project.
In simple terms, this upcoming series, featuring six, 30-minute installments, is likely to bring together a good number of the actors who shone in David’s popular comedy series, Curb Your Enthusiasm, for filming.
However, sources close to Daily Mail suggest that Hines’ upcoming marriage to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who serves as Trump’s Secretary of Health and Human Services, makes it highly likely that she will be disqualified.
Based on reports, Barack and Michelle Obama, who are involved with their production company Higher Ground, strongly object to Hines participating in the project because of her political connections.
If not for her age, she might have been an obvious or certain pick due to her well-known portrayal as the wife of David’s character over the entire 12-season run of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
However, Hines is currently experiencing backlash from the perceived “cancel culture” within Hollywood’s upper echelons of progressive politics.
According to a well-connected insider, the Obamas firmly believe that individuals with political ties to Trump, whom they deeply dislike, should not be involved in any of their profitable media ventures.

It’s apparent that Cheryl falls within this group as well. In fact, things might be more complicated for her in the eyes of the Obamas, as well as Larry, due to her switch from being a Democrat to an Independent and her friendly relationship with Donald Trump.
Interestingly, in the year 2008, the incoming President Obama was contemplating appointing RFK Jr. as the EPA administrator, a role that would have involved enforcing environmental regulations, as reported by Politico.
However, it seems the plan was allegedly abandoned because there were concerns about Kennedy’s ability to secure confirmation from Republican senators, given his past drug issues and contentious remarks.
‘It’s now gone full circle,’ a source noted.
In his dual role as both the executive producer and lead actor of the upcoming series, it’s within David’s authority to go against the strong influence of his partners and choose Hines for the cast. However, according to industry insiders, such a bold decision seems rather improbable.
It is said that the close connection between David and Hines – both on a personal and professional level – seems to have cooled significantly or possibly even vanished altogether, following her spouse’s decision to switch from being a Democrat to running independently against Joe Biden in the recent election.
Later on, Kennedy joined the ranks as an ally and follower of the MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement, serving as the Secretary of Health and Human Services under the Trump administration in February. More recently, he has taken the helm as leader of the ‘Let’s Make America Healthy Again’ initiative.
As a dedicated admirer, I can’t help but marvel at the continued influence of the legendary David, now 78, in our political landscape. He stands strong as a steadfast liberal Democrat, his star shining brightly amidst the political firmament. His unwavering support for Joe Biden during the presidential race was nothing short of inspiring, and it’s been reported that he generously donated an impressive $15,000 to the 2020 Biden Victory Fund. Truly, his contributions are a testament to his passion for democracy and justice!

A source revealed that it might be challenging for Larry to include Cheryl in the new program due to his disapproval towards Bobby’s political views, Cheryl’s strong backing of MAGA and MAHA, and Larry’s intense dislike of Donald Trump.
This year, even Laurie David, David’s former wife who is a democratic liberal, environmentalist, feminist, and an inspiration for Cheryl’s character as Larry’s TV spouse, criticized David following her public support of him during his Senate confirmation proceedings.
Her statement about Hines’s Senate chamber appearance marked a standout and widely-observed act for her, portraying herself as an affectionate, loyal wife. Unfortunately, this could potentially set women’s progress back by several decades.
In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Hines addressed Laurie’s comments, stating that she found the post unusual as they are not particularly acquainted with each other.
She added that she and David are still friends.
Her representative chose not to provide any comments when Daily Mail inquired regarding the current status of Hines and David’s relationship, nor did they confirm if she would be involved in his upcoming series.
The Obama family and David, collectively, are embarking on a new television venture that involves sketch comedy. In this project, the renowned creator of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Jeff Schaffer, will collaborate with them as a co-writer and director for various episodes.
The title for the upcoming show hasn’t been revealed yet, but its tagline hints, “In celebration of America marking its 250th anniversary and honoring our nation’s distinctive history on this unique event,… But then, unexpectedly, Larry David got involved.

In simpler terms, Obama stated, “I’ve faced challenging leaders around the globe and tackled some stubborn issues. Yet, nothing could have prepared me for collaborating with Larry David.
As a devoted admirer, I find myself echoing Schaffer’s sentiments: ‘The roles Larry portrays in his work didn’t shape history significantly. In truth, they were predominantly overlooked by historical accounts. And this is precisely why it’s commendable.’
The performance will include a blend of actors from Curb Your Enthusiasm, as well as additional visitors, though the specifics about who will be participating haven’t been announced yet.
Without a role in the currently unknown TV series or Curb Your Enthusiasm on hold, it seems that Hines is exploring different job opportunities instead.
Lately, she held the roles of both executive producer and lead actress in an affordable Italian horror short film alongside her 21-year-old daughter Catherine, whom she had with her ex-husband Paul Young.
Additionally, Hines received an advance worth $600,000 from a long-standing book publisher and political supporter of RFK Jr., which they will use to write an autobiography titled “Unscripted”, scheduled for release in November.
Hines has been dividing her time between the Kennedy estate in Los Angeles and their recently acquired $4.3 million townhouse in the exclusive Georgetown district of Washington D.C., a property she allegedly requested her husband to purchase in April following his involvement in a sexting scandal with political journalist Olivia Nuzzi, who is 32 years old.
At one point, it was reported by Daily Mail that the actress was determined to closely monitor both him and his tendency to stray.

Prior to last year when RFK Jr.’s presidential campaign sparked my anger, followed by his joining the Trump administration in February, our relationship was remarkably close, as I’ve been told. (First-person perspective)
During a charity ski event for charity in 2004, where Larry and his first wife were present, Kennedy met Hines – a friend of Laurie David – as stated by the couple.
During that period, I found myself divorced from my initial spouse, the acclaimed Hollywood producer and talent manager, Paul Young – the very individual who had been instrumental in shaping my acting journey.
Kennedy, often referred to as a womanizer, struggled with what he termed as ‘affectionate afflictions.’ His diary contained numerous entries of over 40 women, yet he was still wedded to his second spouse, the late architectural designer Mary Richardson, who was the mother of four out of Kennedy’s six children.
In an unusual turn of events reminiscent of the eccentric comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm, he later stated that he oddly sought David’s approval to date his television wife. He claimed that David consented, but cautioned Hines against it, expressing doubts about their compatibility.
He told Bobby that Hines was ‘the most solid person I ever met’.
Richardson asserted a contrasting account, stating that she had introduced Hines to her spouse during a charitable function. Upon discovering their romantic involvement, she was left deeply saddened.
In her conversation with a trusted friend, she expressed her deep sense of being let down, using the phrase ‘sisterhood – camaraderie among women standing firm for each other.’
Paraphrasing in this way aims to maintain the original meaning while making it more natural and easy to understand.

It’s said that Hines started openly bragging about her connection with RFK Jr., an action that reportedly embarrassed his wife, who had been married to him for 18 years.
On the internet, Richardson noticed that Hines posted a tweet mentioning she made friends with Glenn Close (a good friend of Mary), formed a connection with Kerry Kennedy (sister of Bobby), and developed a friendship with Aidan (youngest child of Hines).
Following Hines’ tweets, someone commented online: ‘Did Hines not consider how his exuberant and public display might affect the woman he had left behind?’
In 2010, Kennedy filed for divorce, and two years afterward, a distraught Mary Richardson, aged 52, tragically took her own life by hanging in the garage of her upscale residence in Bedford, New York.
On a rainy Saturday in August 2014, approximately four years after, Cheryl Hines tied the knot with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., marking her as his third wife, at the renowned Kennedy compound located in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts.
Among the distinguished attendees was David, who previously assured a member of the Kennedy family, “No action of yours will unsettle her.
Jerry Oppenheimer is a successful biographer known for penning two books about the Kennedy family. One of these books is titled “The Other Mrs. Kennedy,” which delves into the life of Ethel Skakel Kennedy, and the other is called “RFK Jr. And The Dark Side of the Dream.
