Paper Rex earn first VCT Pacific slot in Champions Paris 2025

This year, the top-ranked team hailing from the VCT Pacific region secured a spot at Champions Paris, and that’s none other than Paper Rex, who were also crowned Masters champions.

VCT Pacific announces that Paper Rex will represent them at the VALORANT Champions Tournament in Paris 2025, having secured their spot following a series victory against T1, marking their return to the international competition stage for the year-end event.

Khalish “d4v41” Rusyaidee commented that it was great to experience the genuine playoff vibe, as he felt the team performed admirably and he is incredibly proud of their efforts.

Instead of Coach Alexandre “alecks” Sallé, instead, expresses a different form of satisfaction. “I believe the key point is that we now have additional time to focus on visa issues and improve our game,” he stated during the post-match interview.

PRX vs T1 in VCT Pacific 2025 Stage 2 Upper Bracket Semis

In this tournament, Paper Rex got their first playoff game because they received a bye for being the top of their group. On the other hand, T1 had previously defeated Rex Regum Qeon, who won the previous season’s championship, during the previous quarterfinals.

Team PRX and Team 1 both originate from the same Group Omega. During the initial round, Paper Rex dominated their group, but lost one map (and consequently, the match) against ZETA DIVISION. Meanwhile, although leading their group, Team PRX excelled, while Team 1 ended up in a middle position, with a record of three wins and two losses, placing them third.

During the Upper Bracket Semifinals of VCT Pacific 2025 Stage 2, Paper Rex stood out as strong contenders. The team that lined up featured the same five players who triumphed at Masters Toronto, including the now more experienced addition Patrick “PatMen” Mendoza.

Meanwhile, T1 also fielded their newest pickup, Kang “DH” Dong-ho.

On Sunset

The battle between PRX and T1 for the Paris spot commenced on a Sunday, with T1 making the initial choice. This contest was characterized by shifting momentum, as evidenced in the game synopsis provided. However, in the end, it was PRX’s strategic play, reminiscent of their W gaming style, that secured the victory.

It’s significant to point out that Wang “Jinggg” Jing Jie played a crucial role on the Raze team, as he accounted for approximately 90% of their kills. Additionally, Ilia “something” Petrov reached a milestone of 2,000 career kills during this particular map.

On Bind

Bind told a similar story. Jinggg’s Raze ran the lobby, and the team played as a coherent unit.

In this map, T1’s game appeared increasingly bleak compared to the previous one at Sunset, where their chances would sometimes favor them. However, in the current situation, it seemed as though PRX dominated throughout the entire map.

In this scenario, Team 1 is now pushed into the lower playoff bracket, which pits them against their fellow South Korean team, Nongshim RedForce. Before reaching Paris for Paper Rex, they must triumph over TALON in the Upper Bracket Final.
