Howard Stern’s radio rival says ‘nobody cares’ about the shock jock anymore amid cancellation rumors

One of Howard Stern’s long-term competitors in radio broadcasting has offered his thoughts on speculations that Howard Stern, who calls himself the ‘King of All Media’, might be leaving SiriusXM.

In simpler terms, Anthony Cumia, who was previously part of the controversial radio duo Opie and Anthony, criticized Howard Stern in a passionate outburst on his Compound Media podcast, suggesting that Stern is no longer significant or popular among friends (or peers), and may no longer be relevant.

‘I don’t think he could live without having a mic in front of him,’ Cumia said.

‘He’s one of these guys that needs to feel like he’s relevant, even if he’s not,’ he continued.

It appears to me he doesn’t seem to have close friends. This is much like when he attends high-profile events in the Hamptons, often mentioning his interactions with Jimmy Kimmel or even having Jennifer Aniston present. However, these encounters might just as easily disappear from his life as they were introduced to it.

He added, ‘I don’t think these are friends he could rely on.’

According to reports, Stern is currently in discussions with SiriusXM, as his five-year, $500 million contract with the company is nearing its conclusion.

Reports indicate that Stern and SiriusXM are in talks, given that his five-year, half-billion dollar contract is set to expire soon.

Over the past few years, the radio icon’s fame seems to have significantly decreased. Some commentators have criticized this former agitator for allegedly embracing progressive views, often labeled as “wokeness.

Initially, his broadcast attracted a massive audience of 20 million daily listeners, peaking at that number. However, reports from The New York Post indicate that the listener count has dramatically dropped to approximately 125,000 daily listeners now.

Over the past five years, I’ve primarily been hosting my Howard Stern Show from home due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic.

Howard Stern is anticipated to get a relatively low proposal from SiriusXM for him to remain with the company, according to Cumia’s forecast. Despite his substantial earnings of approximately $100 million per year since he joined the network back in 2004.

According to Cumia, he believes Joe Rogan received a substantial annual deal of over $200 million from Spotify, which apparently made him feel frustrated because he was no longer the highest-earning individual.

The long-standing conflict between Opie & Anthony and The Howard Stern Show originated in the late 1990s and persisted for many years. This rivalry intensified significantly following their transitions from conventional radio to SiriusXM.

Cumia was infamously fired from SiriusXM in 2014 after posting a series of racist tweets.

Currently, Cumia broadcasts a podcast under the banner of Compound Media, featuring the contentious Proud Boys’ founder, Gavin McInnes.

Currently, it’s rumored that Stern is heavily engaged in discussions about his role at SiriusXM.

Or

Reports suggest that Stern is fully immersed in talks concerning his continued employment at SiriusXM.

Stern first launched The Howard Stern Show in 1986 on traditional radio.

His fame reached its zenith during the ’90s, as he gained notoriety for his sensational radio antics and blunt, uncensored interview style.

1997 marked the year he took center stage in a biopic based on his life and career titled “Private Parts.” Additionally, he published several popular books that became bestsellers around the same time.

The 20th season of The Howard Stern Show is set to premiere on SiriusXM on September 2.

Over the past few years, a significant change in Stern’s standing from the most intimidating figure in American entertainment to what Kanye West labeled as an ‘outdated elderly person’ has been quite noticeable. This transformation has been met with criticism following his declaration of feeling ‘proudly enlightened.’
