Kate Bowman, previously married to ex-bassist Mickey Madden from Maroon 5, has recently initiated divorce proceedings against him. This action comes about two weeks following accusations of inappropriate behavior, including alleged abuse, and sexting minors.
On Wednesday, as reported by TMZ, the fashion influencer decided to end their marriage, which had only lasted three short months.
She mentioned ‘unresolvable disagreements’ as the cause for their parting, without specifying when they actually separated.
In a recent turn of events, Bowman – who made headlines with her surprising accusations earlier this month – has petitioned for spousal maintenance, and furthermore, seeks to prohibit her former spouse, aged 46, from obtaining any such support.
As the couple has no children, there are no child custody or support issues to address.
There seems to be some ambiguity about whether the couple, who had been dating for more than four years prior to getting married on May 6, have a prenuptial agreement in place.
Two weeks following Bowman’s accusation that he had physically assaulted her, stemming from an incident where she confronted him over inappropriate text messages he was sending to minors.
In the court records submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court, Bowman stated that he was subjected to violent treatment by someone on July 21st. He now finds himself living in fear of this individual.
Bowman stated that the bass player appeared disturbed when she inquired about the rumors of private communications involving him and some teenage girls, which reportedly involved a fantasy related to sexual assault.
Bowman told the court that he grabbed her arms and slammed her body against a kitchen counter.
‘He pulled me to the ground and was out of his mind,’ Bowman told the court in her filing.
Bowman described her efforts to flee the dangerous situation in her court filing.
She shared that she was able to evade him by moving about and ultimately escaped, rising from where she was, and dashed out of the house to get away from him.
She added that he chased her, clad only in his underwear and without shoes, eventually catching up to her. He pushed her against a gate before attempting to pull her back towards the house.
Bowman reportedly made it out and dashed into the street, whereas Madden encountered her on two separate occasions in distinct locations, using physical violence against him on both instances.
In one instance, Bowman successfully evaded and took refuge on the street. On two different occasions, however, Madden came across her, each time resorting to physical abuse.
Bowman included screengrabs in her filing from ring camera footage to support her claims.
Bowman attempted to get Madden’s phone but ended up feeling frightened for her safety and had to leave the house.
After running down the street and hiding among vehicles following her escape from the angry musician, Bowman managed to search through the phone’s contents, as stated in court documents.
Bowman told the court that Madden had never shown that level of outrage prior to their marriage.
A stranger indicated to her, in a court filing, that they had made text-related accusations against Madden.
She informed the court that, following the dispute, she left the house and is currently staying with a friend as a result.
Bowman testified that Madden expressed regret through a text message, and mentioned his intention to seek assistance for a sex addiction issue.
She expressed worry about Madden possibly reacting unpredictably upon learning that she had hired a lawyer using one of their shared credit cards, following the July 21 event.
Bowman is seeking a court order that keeps Madden from coming closer than 100 yards to her, her workplace, home, or vehicle.
During their relationship lasting more than four years, she claimed that Madden had financial authority over her.

In response to the domestic violence accusations, a judge in Los Angeles’ Superior Court temporarily protected Bowman by issuing a restraining order. However, Madden’s request to leave their shared home was not approved yet; instead, it will be addressed during a later hearing concerning this issue.
For approximately 26 years, Madden served as the bassist for the pop-rock band Maroon 5, which is known for hits such as “Makes Me Wonder,” “Moves Like Jagger,” and “She Will Be Loved.” However, he left the group in the year 2020.
In July of 2020, he chose to distance himself from Maroon 5 following his arrest on allegations of domestic violence.
