Messy BBC drama with star-studded cast has controversial character’s exit confirmed before new season

Industry season 4 will be short of another key player in the cutthroat world of investment banking.

The actor Conor MacNeill, famous for portraying the complex character Kenny Kilbane, has announced that he will not rejoin Pierpoint & Co for the upcoming fourth season.

According to MacNeill, “Kenny departed from Pierpoint, and surprisingly, at the end of season 3, Pierpoint itself ceased to exist. To be frank, I’m not sure if that’s the whole truth. It was quite an intense conclusion.

The actor expressed great enthusiasm about watching the plot unfold in season 4, but it seems improbable that Kenny will join forces with characters such as Harper Stern (Myha’la Herrold), Yasmin Kara-Hanani (Marisa Abela) and Eric (Ken Leung).

MacNeill stated, “I could work in the Industry for eternity due to its exceptional team. However, what truly sets the Industry apart is its competitive nature – a reflection of its inherent characteristics, isn’t it?

He also reflected on how Kenny’s arc evolved throughout the three seasons released so far.

In a similar vein, MacNeill stated, “Thus, the plot developments – particularly those instances – seemed fitting and just. There was also a sense that Kenny had earned it to some extent. It’s as if, eventually, one can’t escape their wrongdoings. At some juncture, they will be held accountable.

Moreover, his life transformed, and it seems that the toxic environment of Pierpoint no longer suited him as effectively as before. I suspect this was due to his newfound disregard for the rules. That’s just how that world operates.

In a new twist, the actor switches from working in the gray offices of Pierpoint to portraying Ned Gowan in the prequel series “Outlander: Blood of my Blood“, set in 18th century Scotland.

As for Industry season 4, MacNeill isn’t the only star who won’t appear in the new chapter.

In the next installment, Robert Spearing won’t be returning as Harry Lawtey, but instead, we’ll see Charlie Heaton from “Stranger Things,” Toheeb Jimoh known for “Ted Lasso,” and Kiernan Shipka famed for “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” joining the cast.

Additionally, joining the cast for season 4 are Kal Penn, Claire Forlani, renowned from The Handmaid’s Tale, Max Minghella, actor in Spencer, Jack Farthing, and Amy James-Kelly, a familiar face from Coronation Street.

Industry airs on BBC One and iPlayer in the UK and HBO in the US.
