Upon arriving at the water college, I initially believed I wouldn’t fit in. However, as time passed, I’ve come to understand that perhaps this sense of belonging was here for me all along.

In this update, we delve into the backstory and narrative of Wuyang, our latest support character in Overwatch 2. A video presentation showcasing the “Against the Tide” comic, voiced by Howard Wang – who brings Wuyang to life – unveiled his presence within the game. Here’s a rundown on all things Wuyang for Overwatch 2!

Overwatch 2 Wuyang lore explained

In Overwatch 2, Wuyang hails from a family with a rich history tied to Wuxing University, an institution that is split into five distinct colleges: fire, metal, water, earth, and wood. Notably, both of Wuyang’s parents attended and excelled at the fire college, where they were renowned fighters during the Omnic Crisis.

In the same vein, Anran, Wuyang’s elder sibling, excels academically at the school. Wuyang aspired to continue his family’s tradition, but he was denied admission to the fire college. However, he managed to secure a place at the water college instead.

Due to the situation, Wuyang experienced a mix of embarrassment and sadness. Nevertheless, his loyalty towards his sister was unwavering, prompting him to independently study the lessons from the fire college.

Overwatch 2: Wuyang’s story

Amidst the assault of Null Sector on the school, Wuyang and Anran had a disagreement and separated. But once Wuyang learned that Anran was in distress, he employed his water powers to rescue her. Subsequently, they stood side by side to battle their adversaries.

Weeks later, Anran and Wuyang’s parents visited Wuyang’s dorm and they united as family.

When Wuyang arrived at Water College, he believed he would never fit in, but as time passed, he began to understand that perhaps his place had been there all along.
