Selena Gomez drew inspiration from her close companion, Taylor Swift, when expressing her plans to remake one of her older tunes.
This week, the ex-Disney actress, aged 33, confessed that listening to one of her teenage recordings made her tear up.
In this week’s edition of Therapuss with Jake Shane, I took a trip down memory lane, reminiscing about my days performing alongside Selena Gomez & The Scene from the years 2009 to 2012.
Prior to embarking on a solo career, she had already released three studio albums as part of the group, among which was one of her most cherished creations – “Who Says”.
She expressed that there’s no moment more thrilling than when she gets to perform it, referring to the standout track from their 2011 album titled “When the Sun Goes Down.
In the very same podcast episode, Gomez reminisced about the time she and Taylor Swift formed a strong friendship, bonding over their past heartbreaks with well-known former partners when they were both young teens.

Gomez, who last embarked on a tour back in 2016, stated: ” frankly, the sole reason I’d consider going on tour once more is to play ‘Who Says.’
‘I need to redo it. I should recut it,’ the Only Murders in the Building star continued.
In simpler terms, she expressed a desire to remake the song since her voice on the initial recording seems quite youthful.
‘I would have to take it down an octave from each year I’ve sang it,’ she said.
Additionally, Gomez mentioned that the tune continues to strike a chord with her, since just the other day, she caught herself listening to Who Says on the radio while traveling overseas.
When she heard it, she said she started getting emotional.
It struck me strangely as I found myself teary-eyed during my own composition. However, upon reflection, it turned out to be quite poignant because the song contained deeply impactful messages that resonate with me still.
She confessed, ‘It feels quite strange, as previously I enjoyed the song because I believed it was something everyone could connect with.’
As for that tune, I can’t help but feel an extraordinary connection to it. Its resonance with me is uniquely my own.

Back then, it wasn’t so much about societal body standards, but now those words resonate differently. So when I hear that song, I get quite enthusiastic.
Upon Shane suggesting a re-recording of the song, she responded affirmatively, saying, “Absolutely, I’ll give it a try. Let’s consider it first. Let’s wait and see how things unfold.
In the same podcast episode, Gomez reminisced about her 16-year friendship with Taylor Swift and shared a remarkable song that her closest friend played for her before anyone else had a chance to listen to it.
She remembered their first encounter, as she was dating Nick Jonas from the Jonas Brothers, while Taylor Swift was seeing Joe Jonas simultaneously.
Following their individual splits, it’s been noted that they developed a strong bond of friendship, with many agreeing that this friendship turned out to be one of the most beneficial outcomes from that period in their lives.
