Sarah Michelle Gellar looks forever young in Buffy reboot… but her iconic character gets drastic makeover

In the initial glimpse of the revival of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sarah Michelle Gellar appeared as if time had stood still for her; however, viewers may find themselves taken aback by the significant transformation taking place behind the scenes during the filming of this much-anticipated series.

The actress, best known for her role as Buffy Summers in seven seasons, was captured in unique photos by DailyMail.com donning a daring red business suit, lending a modern professional vibe to the cherished character.

Even now, just as captivating, Sarah Michelle Gellar’s elegant blouse and coordinating skirt were quite different from her iconic “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” style when the series concluded in 2003.

Instead of sporting slinky tank tops, grungy layers, and wooden stakes, there was now a shift towards business-casual elegance and a takeout coffee cup instead.

Under the warm glow of sun-kissed golden highlights, carrying a chic designer bag, and donning red heels that complement her striking business suit, it’s intriguing to wonder about the activities of the ex-Sunnydale heroine these days – far removed from the tiring vampire-slaying nights at high school.

Just recently, Gellar subtly suggested there might be fresh developments for the series, implying that the upcoming revival will have a more upbeat tone compared to the latter seasons of the original.

She mentioned to Vanity Fair that they aim to strike a harmony, incorporating both fresh and familiar faces in the series.

Gellar, who additionally functions as an executive producer, subsequently disclosed a tantalizing detail likely to ignite enthusiasm among followers: ‘I long to resurrect all those who have perished, yet there must also be room for fresh narratives in the process.’

Regrettably, Michelle Trachtenberg, who tragically passed away at the age of 39 in February, will not be returning for the reboot.

She played Buffy’s younger sister Dawn Summers in the later seasons of the original series.

Yesterday, Gellar honored her longtime screen partner on Instagram following the sad news, posting vintage pictures and a poignant quote from the series: “Michelle, pay attention to me. Pay attention. I love you. I will always love you. The most challenging aspect of life is simply existing in it. I will be brave. I will live… for you.

Despite the loss, Gellar hinted the Buffy universe still has room to grow.

She mentioned to the media outlet that one fascinating aspect of Buffy is its history as a show that seamlessly blends different genres or worlds, and they’re currently brainstorming methods to update the narrative for modern times.

We’re brainstorming methods to update the storyline’s motifs, with a focus on understanding the concept of being an outcast amidst a society heavily influenced by social media.

She acknowledged that it was lucky for her not to have encountered such a situation when she initially assumed the position.

‘What we want to explore are the space-time boundaries that affect society today.’

Gellar also revealed why she waited so long to sign on for a reboot.

She expressed that she purposely held back on bringing something familiar back into play, preferring instead to wait for the perfect moment. She revealed that the concept originated from renowned director and Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao, who admired the original.

‘Zhao proposed the project to me, and I accepted.’

‘The gestation was long. It’s been three years, and we’re still working on it,’ she added.
