The long-awaited trailer for the new show titled The Paper, which is a spin-off of The Office, has now become available.
After a span of twelve years since the conclusion of the renowned American comedy series, Greg Daniels has returned with a fresh production that takes place within the same fictional universe, and includes a familiar face making a comeback as a guest star.
Within the storyline, the documentary team who earlier focused on the staff at Dunder Mifflin Paper Company have shifted their attention to another subject: the ailing Toledo Truth-Teller newspaper.
The quiet and unassuming Ned Sampson takes on the role of editor-in-chief at our publication, only to discover that the team of volunteers under his leadership lack substantial work experience.
In the midst of the commotion, Oscar Martinez resurfaces once more – this time played by Oscar Núñez reprising his character from ‘The U.S. version of The Office.’ However, it’s clear that he strongly prefers not to be captured on camera a second time around.

The new additions to the cast feature Domhnall Gleeson from the Star Wars sequel trilogy, who is of Irish origin, and Tim Key from The Ballad of Wallis Island, who is English. This diversity in casting mirrors the approach taken in the American adaptation of The Office with Idris Elba and Catherine Tate.
Among those joining the cast are Sabrina Impacciatore, who gained international recognition with season two of “The White Lotus” and Melvin Gregg from “Nine Perfect Strangers”. Also included are Melissa Frei from “The Time Traveler’s Wife”, stand-up comedian Alex Edelman, and Tracy Letts known for his role in “Little Women”. A few other notable additions to the cast are…

Previously, Steve Carell expressed his enthusiasm for the spin-off and appreciated the concept, stating: “Gleeson is a fantastic actor and genuinely kind person, so I believe it will turn out splendidly.
He mentioned that he would be observing, but won’t be physically present. That scenario is not on the table. My character has no role in it; there’s simply no need for me to appear in such a setting.
The premiere of “The Paper” is set for streaming in the U.S. on Peacock this coming Thursday, 4th September. The following day, it will be available on Sky/NOW in the UK. In the initial week, four episodes will be released, followed by two per week for the subsequent three weeks.
The Office US can be streamed on Netflix, Prime Video and Sky/NOW.
The latest print issue of Digital Spy, featuring Oasis – Live in ’25, is now available! You can purchase it from newsstands or online for only £8.99.
