Kenny Logan courageously shared the challenges he’s faced in his marital intimacy due to a prostate surgery, aiming to bring attention to other men who have experienced similar issues.
In February 2022, Kenny, a former Scottish rugby player aged 53, received a cancer diagnosis following Gabby’s (also 52) insistence that he seek medical attention.
During an open conversation with The Telegraph, Kenny revealed that he encountered difficulties maintaining erections during his cancer fight, a situation that left him concerned about potential impacts on his and his partner’s sexual relationship.
He mentioned that undergoing a prostatectomy might temporarily make it impossible for men to achieve erections, which is indeed a significant concern for anyone in such a situation.
Rather than worrying about the possibility that they might not return, I chose to concentrate on my health goals, particularly becoming fit and overcoming cancer, while maintaining a consistently optimistic outlook. Approximately three months later, I felt a sense of relief as I noticed some improvement in that area.
‘When it came to sex, things were ‘inconsistent’ let’s say, for a good three months [after that].’

Besides sharing other details, Kenny mentioned that he employs a vacuum device (often referred to as an erectile aid) to facilitate an erection. He prefers to maintain this aspect of his personal life confidential within their shared space.
Vacuum pumps help increase blood circulation towards the penis, resulting in an erection. These devices are often effective and may be used as an alternative to medication when it’s unsuitable or ineffective, according to the NHS guidelines.
He mentioned: “It wasn’t at all appealing… I utilized it for around 10 minutes here and there, throughout that initial month, as fortunate for me, Gabby was busy with the Commonwealth Games.
I made it clear to her that should she unexpectedly find me using it, she needs to immediately leave the room, or our conversation would end permanently. Even within a marriage, there are certain personal matters that should be respected as private.
Kenny and presenter Gabby have been married for over 22 years and share two children together.
In February 2023, Kenny openly discussed the side effects of his treatment and mentioned that he felt bruised in the lower part of his body, referring to it as being ‘discolored’ or ‘swollen’ down there.
As a lifestyle advocate, I firmly believe in the importance of transparency and open dialogue about personal experiences that can help others. Just as I’ve been candid about my own challenges with dyslexia, relationships, IVF journeys, and more, I approach discussions on sensitive topics like erectile dysfunction with the same level of honesty. After all, these issues are symptoms of a broader health narrative, and by sharing my experiences, I hope to encourage others to seek help and support when needed.
Regarding sexual aspects, there seems to be inconsistency. The surgeon explained that recovery might stretch over approximately 18 months.

In about a month’s time, I began observing some activity, which he expressed as ‘that’s incredible’. However, the results aren’t always predictable. What makes it intriguing is that by taking a pill, the situation can be altered dramatically.
He explained that his brave honesty was motivated by his desire to help other people.
He emphasized once more the importance of regular health checks for men his age, stating: “It would be wonderful if my efforts could help just one individual. However, given the widespread attention it received, I suspect I’ve likely helped many people already.
The couple expressed their gratitude for catching Kenny’s condition early, stating that it gave him multiple treatment choices due to its timeliness.
After listening to guests on his wife’s podcast talking about getting their hormones checked, Kenny felt motivated to schedule a general health exam. His test results subsequently revealed an elevated level of PSA, or prostate-specific antigen.
He mentioned that he underwent an examination, and within the span of roughly three to four months, he had a biopsy performed. They found something concerning, but decided to monitor it closely, as he explained.
In simpler terms, he mentioned that the specialist highlighted an interesting point during their meeting – approximately 40% of his peers are unaware they have elevated PSA levels.
It doesn’t always lead to cancer and many men go their entire lives not knowing.

When Kenny received his prostate cancer diagnosis shortly thereafter, he found it extremely surprising or startling.
After undergoing the surgery, he chose to completely remove his prostate. Now, three months after the operation, he feels nearly back to his best health.
‘I’m probably about 90 per cent back to normal,’ he said.
As a devoted wellness advocate, I can’t stress enough how crucial regular check-ups are, especially when it comes to prostate health. You see, this sneaky condition tends to keep a low profile, rarely showing signs until it’s already progressed to more advanced stages. But
In the United Kingdom, this type of cancer is the most frequently diagnosed among men. This couple is urging males to educate themselves about this illness and to discuss potential risks with their general practitioner.
Approximately 52,300 men in the UK receive a prostate cancer diagnosis each year, which is equivalent to about 140 diagnoses daily.
As a lifestyle expert, I find it crucial to shed light on a pressing health issue that affects many men in the UK – prostate cancer. Regrettably, each year, approximately 11,800 British gentlemen lose their lives to this disease, making it the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths, following lung and bowel cancers.
