Gold FM’s Brendan ‘Jonesey’ Jones offers to work for FREE after shock axing

Gold FM’s host, Brendan ‘Jonesey’ Jones, remains stunned following the cancellation of the Gold FM morning show he co-hosted with Amanda.

If asked, the well-known radio personality admitted that he was prepared to work without pay for a competing network, had the talks not been favorable.

Starting in the new year, Jones along with co-host Amanda Keller will take over hosting duties for their popular program during the evening commute hours.

Starting off in those cities will be Christian O’Connell, currently the host of the morning show on Gold 104.3 in Melbourne. His popular program is set to be extended to Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Sydney.

As a loyal devotee reporting on the subject, I can share that after two decades of hosting my beloved breakfast show, Jones expressed to News.com.au that he was caught off guard by the unexpected change in his professional journey.

Upon hearing that Jones and Keller were set to have their own network show, the seasoned radio personality, aged 57, presumed it would be a morning talk show.

Jones said ARN management had told him that they could not keep their old slot.

As per reports, Jones and Keller are expected to pen fresh contracts with ARN, earning them approximately $2 million and $2.5 million each, respectively.

Insiders say that the price is too high for Triple M, which has long courted the pair.

He mentioned that if “they” (ARN) attempt to force us into accepting a salary reduction, we might consider going to Triple M or 2 Day without charge… all in the spirit of competition.

Amanda said ”Hang on Mr Negotiator.” Luckily, it never got to that point.’

‘The opportunity to be a national show is a big deal.

I understand the reasoning behind management not allowing simultaneous releases of shows in Sydney and Melbourne. It does seem rather unconventional. However, upon further reflection, I can see their point of view. Running a business involves a lot of mental strategizing.

Last month, it was revealed by Inside Mail that Gold FM 104.3 radio personality O’Connell has openly expressed his intentions to grow his live breakfast audience outside of Melbourne.

His show is already syndicated at night across the rest of the network.

Meanwhile, Jones and Keller reluctantly confirmed their move from breakfast to drive last Friday.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’d rephrase that statement as follows: On Friday morning during our FM radio show, we shared some exciting news – inviting our audience to join us in our new time slot with an irresistible enthusiasm that might feel like being pulled along, kicking and screaming!

Amanda, aged 63, expressed that she and you share exciting new developments. She continues her tenure at Gold, yet there’s more-some modifications will take place.

Brendan and I will be heading out for a drive-thru experience later on… We might have continued serving breakfast indefinitely. However, we’ve never had issues with the working hours.

For the past two decades, we’ve been on this journey together. Here’s the situation: We’d like to continue moving forward at a faster pace, and we hope that you’ll join us willingly, but if necessary, we’re prepared to guide you through any initial resistance.

For two long, blissful decades, I’ve been waking up with your brilliance as a constant companion. Now, I can’t contain my joy as I eagerly anticipate our reunion in the evening hours!

Amanda added, “If you join us and follow our instructions during the ride, everything will be fine.

The Daily Mail reported an exclusive update on Wednesday, indicating significant changes were underway at ARN. You can find more information about these developments here.
