MasterChef loses nearly 1MILLION viewers as new series airs after both presenters Gregg Wallace and John Torode were sacked

The viewership of MasterChef decreased by almost a million during its recent airing, following the dismissals of both hosts, Gregg Wallace and John Torode.

On Wednesday evening, the debated 21st season was broadcast on BBC following its availability on iPlayer earlier in the day – a move made by the broadcaster to air the episodes.

At the eleventh hour, there was a rush to revise it and minimize the number of times actors Gregg and John appeared.

In the past few weeks, both hosts have been removed from their duties for upcoming editions of the long-standing cooking competition.

1.96 million viewers tuned in for the initial episode on Wednesday, which is a decrease compared to the 2.73 million who watched last year’s premiere, as reported by The BBC itself.

Critics strongly criticized the BBC for their peculiar choice to proceed with the new series, despite dismissing both of its hosts.

As a devoted spectator, I found myself bewildered, questioning why such an episode aired given recent events. A body language analyst later confirmed my suspicions, noting that the presenters seemed to lack the essential on-screen chemistry.

In a note addressed to X, they expressed their disappointment: ‘It’s disappointing that the BBC is airing the latest season of MasterChef. It’s high time we reconsidered the license fee system; it’s becoming quite a jest.’

I can’t believe I’m tuning into the latest season of #MasterChef on BBC with Gregg Wallace and John Torode as hosts – it seems strange to me that they’re still in these roles after allegations of misconduct led to their dismissal. Whether it was pre-recorded or not, this move feels incredibly insensitive. I can’t help but wonder what the thought process behind it was. #BBCFail

‘Why are these men still on masterchef?.’,

It’s quite intriguing to watch MasterChef now, with the two contestants who got eliminated hosting it. It feels like ages since the accusations against Wallace surfaced, especially concerning him specifically.

I wasn’t aware that it was scheduled! The contestants’ performances seemed to outshine the MasterChef series.

Did BBC and MasterChef accidentally air the wrong program tonight? That’s hard to believe!”

“Is it possible that BBC and MasterChef showed the incorrect program tonight? It seems unimaginable!”

“It looks like BBC and MasterChef may have aired the wrong show tonight! Incredible, isn’t it?

‘Who getting kicked off today. Weirdly it’s the presenters #Masterchef.’,

I’m currently enjoying Masterchef, but I can’t help feeling frustrated because Wallace and Torode seem to be on-screen far too frequently! I thought they were going to have less screen time.

‘Typical bbc Showing masterchef, with the 2 judges who both been sacked #Masterchef.’

Body language expert Judi James told The Mirror that the pair lacked on-screen chemistry.

The publication was informed that Torode and Wallace aren’t portrayed as a dynamic duo in this instance, but rather as two independent experts with minimal collaborative interaction or harmony.

It appears that the actors’ on-screen connection doesn’t seem to be crucial, as most interactions are filmed from a distance, like at a table, or individually, with one actor speaking directly to the camera while the other’s reactions are captured separately.

Wallace and Torode were both sacked from the program in quick succession last month.

Wallace faced termination from his position, as over 45 complaints made against him were found to be valid following an investigation by the BBC.

As a connoisseur of healthy living and good food, I found myself in an unexpected predicament when my two-decade-long career as a chef came to an abrupt end due to allegations about the use of racially charged language. However, I have no conscious memory or understanding of this incident.

On the show, we won’t see contestant Sarah Shafi as she expressed dissatisfaction with Gregg’s conduct.

She asserted that Gregg was checking her out inappropriately and making a questionable remark about his relationships with women during the broadcast.

Gregg voluntarily left the popular BBC cooking program due to allegations concerning his behavior. Out of 83 complaints, 45 were found to be valid, with a total of 41 individuals voicing their concerns.

The investigation found that most of the valid claims made against Wallace were centered around inappropriate use of sexual words and humor.

The statement can be rephrased as follows: Apart from the verified allegations, it was also found that there were a few instances of improper language use, being in an inappropriate state of dress, and one instance of unwanted physical contact, which were all substantiated.

Previously known Eat Well for Less presenter shared with The Sun that, although he didn’t outright deny certain accusations, he felt that some aspects might have been misunderstood or perceived inaccurately.

Gregg asserted that out of approximately 4,000 individuals he collaborated with, a mere 0.5% had any issues or complaints about him.

He explained that his actions stemmed from behaviors he’d learned and the work environment, adding that his recent diagnosis of autism had an impact as well.

He acknowledged, “I’m aware that I can be different. I understand the challenges I face in understanding people. Sometimes, people may find me unusual. However, it’s important to remember that autism is a recognized disability.

Previously, Gregg expressed that he believed the BBC did not offer sufficient aid for his health issues while he was employed on MasterChef for twenty years.

He mentioned that his unique way of thinking, later officially recognized as autism, had been observed and talked about by his peers throughout many seasons on MasterChef, according to him.

For approximately two decades, despite the obvious hazards, no action was taken to examine my disability or safeguard me from a potentially harmful setting.
