In the premiere of Season 2 of “Wednesday,” we learn the sad reason behind Enid (Emma Myers) and Ajax (Georgie Farmer)’s breakup. Enid, a lively werewolf who becomes Wednesday’s roommate-turned-best friend, experienced a complex romantic journey within the Netflix series. The initial hint of their relationship in Season 1 was playful and seemed to be nothing more than friendship, but as the story unfolded throughout the first season of the show on Netflix, their bond deepened into something more significant.
The initial friendly bond between them started to develop into a more romantic one following some bashful and uncomfortable meetings. However, it wasn’t until Season 1, Episode 4, that their relationship truly blossomed when Enid confessed her feelings for Ajax and they shared their first kiss.
In the final episode of Season 1, Ajax helping her following her transformation into a werewolf during a battle with Tyler Galpin (who was portraying Hyde, harboring intense animosity toward Wednesday) catapulted their relationship to uncharted territories. Yet, in Season 2, it appears that their romantic endeavors didn’t last.
Why Enid Breaks Up With Ajax, as Explained by Enid In Wednesday Season 2 Premiere

The second season of ‘Wednesday’, episode 1 opens with Enid showing apparent interest in another charming character from Nevermore – Bruno, a member of the wolf pack hailing from the Philippines, portrayed by new actor Noah B. Taylor. However, contrary to some rumors, Bruno is not Wednesday’s love interest as suggested by the premiere, but instead forms a bond with Enid.
Fans were left curious about Enid and Ajax’s relationship status following the Season 1 finale, as they were seen together. However, in the second season of Wednesday, it didn’t take long for us to learn why Enid is no longer with Ajax. During a conversation with Wednesday, Enid confessed that she was uncertain about her feelings for Ajax due to his lingering affection for her former self, while she had already undergone changes herself.
I’m finding it hard to say for certain about Ajax now. He’s adorable, yet clings to the past me, as I’ve evolved. Look there! Precisely 25 words.
This implies that Enid no longer wishes to be with Ajax, as she prefers to forget her former self, who was undergoing a transformation into a werewolf during Season 1. However, things took a turn in the season finale when she managed to successfully transform into a werewolf to save Wednesday from Tyler. For those unfamiliar, Enid had been striving to become a werewolf throughout the first season.

Following a period of separation and contemplation about the past events, she decided to end things with Ajax, feeling he may be hindering her progress. It’s plausible that this breakup was initiated due to a waning affection towards him, a common pattern among teenagers.
During the final stages of the premiere, further details emerged about Enid and Ajax’s situation after they reconnected near the bonfire. It was revealed that Enid had been unresponsive towards Ajax over the summer, a behavior reminiscent of “ghosting”. However, she attempted to justify her absence by explaining that she was dealing with PTSD and was fully engaged in Wolf Camp activities.
Ajax: “Hey, Enid!”
Enid: “Ajax! Hi.”
Ajax: “Hey there! I’ve noticed we haven’t been in touch much over the summer. I sent quite a few texts and even left several voice messages.
Enid apologized, explaining that Wolf Camp had a no-device policy. She went without technology for an entire month. It’s hard to believe, isn’t it? She joked that she might be suffering from Post-Technology Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Ajax: “We’ve been back two days. It kind of feels like you’ve been avoiding me.”
Enid: “Well, I’ve been quite occupied with my responsibilities at the pack, you’re involved with your RA activities, and as for Wednesdays, they always turn out eventful without fail.
In the third episode of Season 2, Enid and Ajax sat down for a sincere conversation within the campsite. It was then that Enid confessed to Ajax that she ought to have shared with him earlier that her feelings towards him shifted at the start of the academic year.
Ajax was concerned that he may have upset her, but Enid reassured him, explaining that she was no longer the insecure girl who believed she wouldn’t belong. Instead, she had come to understand herself better.
In simpler terms, Enid admitted that she discovered a new sense of self after gaining the ability to transform into a wolf during the final episode. Later, she expressed regret to Ajax, explaining that she hadn’t anticipated her relationship with Burno developing so rapidly.
Unfortunately, despite Ajax’s efforts to win Enid’s affections, she didn’t pick him. It’s regrettable that he was denied the chance to know her decision honestly, which adds a layer of sadness to the situation, as he deserved nothing less than an honest response from her.
Why Enid Chose Bruno Over Ajax – It Makes Sense

In the second season of “Wednesday,” the relationship between Enid and Bruno was deepened, with their shared werewolf status being a primary factor in their decision to become a couple. This is also significant because they’re the only family members left who can transform into wolves.
Bruno resonated deeply with the new phase of Enid after witnessing her personal development over the summer, and it was evident that they had a strong connection throughout their shared moments. Furthermore, Bruno seemed to be the perfect fit for Enid as he recognized her requirements and knew when to grant her privacy – a quality that Ajax lacked, being too persistent with his presence.
