As a devoted admirer of Caity Baser, I’ve learned about a heartbreaking experience from her past. She disclosed that when she was only eight years old, a trusted family friend subjected her to sexual assault.
The 23-year-old pop star from Southampton, in a recent heart-wrenching interview, discussed an instance where she was exploited by a friend of her grandfather at a young age.
On this week’s episode of Paul Carrick Brunson’s We Need To Talk podcast, the artist known for his hits as “Pretty Boy” discussed the significance of his latest song titled “The Weight Of You.” This song, he revealed, pertains to a specific event that occurred.
She shared that she was eight years old, out with her grandfather, returning to his home when the incident occurred by the hand of her grandfather’s acquaintance.
‘Who I knew, and spent a lot of time together, and he was really lovely to me.
Grandad pulled over, got out of the car, and went inside to check on Caty since it was usual for him to ask if she was alright.

She then continued: ‘He started talking he sort of like grabbed me and pulled me in, and yeah.
The incident occurred, and I immediately recognized it as something terrible. Overwhelmed, I ran to my grandfather, broke down in tears, and asked him to take me home.
Afterward, she began to cry as she expressed that the incident was the source of all her personal struggles, and also revealed that it led to a significant strain in her relationship with her grandfather.
Following this event, she couldn’t hold back tears as she explained that it was the root cause of all her personal problems and had negatively impacted her bond with her grandfather.
In this post, Paul, from Celebs Go Dating, has shared a clip featuring Caity Baser who candidly discusses: her hidden childhood traumas, the humor she employed as a coping mechanism, and the emotional backstory that lies within the songs we passionately sing at music festivals.
‘Growing up at the age of 8, with feelings of not being attractive. Later, finding solace and healing through music, a form of therapy, when there were no listeners around.’
‘This is the story behind the boldest voice in Gen Z pop.’
Fans were quick to offer their support and praise Caity for opening up about the topic.
In their post, they wrote: ‘Great talk! Kudos to Caity for her sincerity. Discussing tough topics can be really beneficial for many others.’

A second put: ‘This really spoke to me. I related a lot. Well done for speaking up x.’
A third then posted: ‘This interview is so powerful! Caity babes you are an inspiration.’
Previously, the star has mentioned that she draws upon her own life events when composing her songs.
She mentioned that she believes it might be due to her habit of avoiding directness and constantly sweetening her words over the course of her life.
‘I was afraid I was gonna hurt someone’s feelings, afraid to say how I actually felt.
Given the backing I now have from people who express their desire for me to share my emotions with them, isn’t it only natural that I would oblige?
‘So I’m just like, ‘Here’s what happened, here’s how I feel about it!”
In the year 2023, I, as a lifestyle expert, found it necessary to caution all young gentlemen: steer clear of crossing me, for I might just pen my experiences with past relationships into poignant lyrics.
During an interview with The Daily Mail, Caity expressed that she intends to be bold and warned men not to upset her if they wish to avoid being featured in her music compositions.
However, it’s not only men who should exercise caution, as she has also drawn inspiration for her work from the disappointing dating experiences of her female friends.
Expressing a hint of Taylor Swift’s spirit, Caity made clear that her tracks chronicling past love woes would endure, and there remains much more to uncover.
She expressed: “If someone has angered me, just like a young man, then I’ll create a song about it. And if they’re troubled by it, well, they shouldn’t have provoked me in the first place.

‘But I will never like ”this is who it is about, everyone go hate on them lalala”.
Life, as we know, mirrors our individuality much like the unique way we express ourselves. It’s a part of who I am, and it unfolds as people get closer to knowing me. If I find myself irritated or uncomfortable with something, I have a habit of turning it into a song.
As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but marvel at the extraordinary journey of this talented singer. From strumming tunes in Southampton pubs back in 2020, amidst the chaos of Covid, to gracing festival stages in 2023 – it’s been a breathtaking ride!
