Ncuti Gatwa’s first movie role since his Doctor Who exit has been confirmed.
Last May, I bid adieu to my beloved sci-fi adventure in quite a dramatic way, transforming into the character once played by Billie Piper – the unforgettable Rose Tyler from our shared universe!
After making a difficult yet sweet-yet-sorrowful choice to depart from the program, he is now set to appear in the Alex Marx-directed Isabella Blow biopic titled “The Queen of Fashion.” Andrea Riseborough will portray the main character in this production.
According to the Screen Daily report, Gatwa is set to play the role of Michael Roberts, a fashion designer at Tatler magazine, joining an illustrious ensemble of actors in the production.
In this scenario, Dane DeHaan from Oppenheimer portrays Isabella’s husband Detmar Blow. Joe Cole, known for his role in Gangs of London, takes on the character of Alexander McQueen, and Nymphomaniac’s Stacy Martin assumes the role of Daphne Guinness.

In a new role, Michelle Dockery takes on the part of Alexandra Shulman, the editor of British Vogue. Meanwhile, Emily Beecham joins the cast as Isabella’s closest friend, Lucy Birley.
The movie titled “The Queen of Fashion” features Miranda Richardson and Richard E Grant portraying Isabella’s parents, while Fionn O’Shea takes on the role of Philip Treacy, and Sebastian De Souza plays his partner.
According to the article, the biopic offers an in-depth exploration of the remarkable life of London-born Blow, recognized as a groundbreaking fashion editor, source of inspiration, and relentless powerhouse who significantly impacted the world of fashion. This was accomplished amidst a galaxy of influential artists, designers, and innovators who defined their respective eras.
Before embarking on his first film as a director, Marx stated (through Screen Daily): “Isabella Blow was like a bolt of electricity – a tempest of creativity, humor, and courage.

Sharing her remarkable tale using such a stellar ensemble, portraying her passion and vulnerability, is not only a pleasure but also a great responsibility. This movie transcends being merely about fashion; it’s a tribute to the bold woman who transformed it into an art form, day by day.
Recently, Gatwa expressed his sole regret following his departure from ‘Doctor Who’ during a chat on ‘The One Show’.
He told Alex Jones, “I’ve never had the opportunity to battle against a Dalek or a Cyberman, which are central characters in Doctor Who. Maybe someday, I’ll take on a Dalek instead.
