It’s possible that we may see a return of Battlefield Mobile. Electronic Arts is currently recruiting for a Director of Performance Media for the Battlefield franchise, which could indicate a growing desire to extend the popularity of this action game, potentially including a revival on mobile devices.
Electronic Arts has advertised a new position for a Director of Player Acquisition/Media Performance, whose primary task is to drive growth for the Battlefield series. Remarkably, this role falls under EA’s Live Services Marketing Department, with a key responsibility being to oversee player acquisition across PC, console, and mobile platforms.
Battlefield Mobile was cancelled alongside Apex Legends Mobile back in Mobile
Mentioning mobile presents a significant opportunity to fan the flames of those rumors. In this combined position, the successful candidate will be tasked with devising long-term user acquisition plans, establishing return on ad spend objectives, and contributing to the shaping of Battlefield’s marketing direction for the future.

For a while now, the mobile adaptation of Battlefield has been in development, following Electronic Arts’ announcement of a new standalone Battlefield title back in 2021. The game progressed through its early stages, including alpha and closed beta testing phases. However, on January 31, 2023, both the mobile version of Battlefield and Apex Legends Mobile were unfortunately cancelled.
It turned out to be quite disheartening for mobile gamers when Battlefield Mobile was cancelled, considering its promising performance during initial trials. At that point, Electronic Arts (EA) failed to provide a clear explanation for the decision. Subsequently, the studio responsible for developing Battlefield Mobile, Industrial Toys, was unfortunately closed down.

It appears that this new position’s emphasis on mobile devices and its exclusive link to Battlefield hint at potential changes in the company’s mobile strategy.
