With The Joshua Jackson And Katie Holmes Movie Reunion, I Rewatched My Favorite Dawson’s Creek Episodes, And I Need To Talk About It

In the days before fandom terms like “stanning” came to be, I might have been considered a devoted fan of Joshua Jackson’s character Pacey Witter from “Dawson’s Creek.” That fictional man was flawless in my eyes. He was my ideal dream boyfriend from the small screen. Joey (played by Katie Holmes) and Pacey were, and still are, my all-time favorite TV couple. The series had a profound impact on my adolescence, shaping many of my romantic ideals and characteristics. As such, it’s no surprise that friends who know me well have been sharing pictures of Joshua Jackson and Katie Holmes filming their latest projects.

I’ve been nostalgically revisiting my pre-teen and teenage years, getting all excited about this upcoming reunion. I plan on being at the theater as soon as these “Happy Hours” movies are officially out. Since we don’t know when that will be since they’re still in production, I opted to instead rewatch some of my favorite episodes featuring Joey and Pacey from “Dawson’s Creek” instead.

They made me even more excited for these Jackson and Holmes reunion movies.

Rewatching A Few Of My Favorite Pacey And Joey Episodes Reminded Me How Electric Josh And Katie’s Chemistry Is

Among the top-notch episodes of “Dawson’s Creek” are those focusing on Pacey and Joey. Throughout its six-season run, there were numerous entertaining episodes featuring these characters. However, the most memorable Joey and Pacey episodes tend to fall in Seasons 3 and 4. Given this, it would make sense for you to watch one of those episodes, wouldn’t it? Yes, that was my suggestion, but unfortunately, I didn’t end up watching it myself.

The episode of “Dawson’s Creek” that I recently revisited was Season 6, Episode 15, titled “Castaways.” This particular episode stood out to me because it primarily centered around the characters Pacey and Joey. Spanning over 42 minutes, it showcased the captivating screen chemistry between Jackson and Holmes. I vividly recall being taken aback when they shared their first kiss in this episode. It had been almost two seasons since we saw a romantic connection between Joey and Pacey, making that moment all the more poignant.

1) I was thrilled by this surprising instance. Also, “Castaways” seems to echo romantic films of yesteryears, focusing primarily on the main characters. Instantly, I found myself behaving like a teenager once more, eagerly rewatching their interactions. My feet tapped restlessly and I played with my hair.

In the same vein as some unforgettable on-screen couples, witnessing Jackman and Holmes in a film together is nothing short of enchanting for me. Their shared brilliance creates an enduring, almost ethereal, chemistry that leaves me captivated each time I see them on screen.

I Am Looking Forward To Seeing How That Translates 20+ Years Later

I must confess, I’m feeling a touch of apprehension about watching Holmes and Jackson reunite on-screen after such a long time. Will the magic still be there? Might it feel contrived? My teenage self would be heartbroken if they couldn’t reignite that cinematic spark. Nevertheless, I remain hopeful, for the set photos already evoke that thrilling teenage excitement within me, despite my advanced age. Yes, I’m far too old for this level of excitement, but here I am!

Over the years, I’ve kept tabs on Holmes and Jackson’s careers ever since “Creek” concluded. Given this, I can confidently say that their skills have only grown with time. Consequently, I am optimistic that they will not only rekindle their brilliance but deliver captivating performances. As these upcoming films are romantic dramedies, I’m eager to witness the depth of emotion they will infuse into their roles.

These Dawson’s Creek Episodes Remind Me How Much I Miss Seeing Joshua Jackson As A Romantic Lead

Jackson has primarily focused on TV roles since “Dawson’s Creek,” and I’ve watched most of the shows he starred in. He consistently delivers compelling performances that make you believe in his character’s deep love for his co-stars, like Peter (Jackson) and Olivia (Anna Torv) on “Fringe.” However, I wasn’t as captivated by Max and Avery’s (Phillipa Soo) relationship on the canceled “Doctor Odyssey.” Interestingly, Jackson’s return to his romantic leading man roles in a new show brought back a sense of nostalgia that I found enjoyable.

I’m eagerly waiting to witness Jackson recite lines with such poetic elegance, as if they were his own words. I can’t wait to notice the affectionate gaze Pacey gives Joey in this film. I hope that Jackson will embody the romantic leading man role he was born for and should continue to portray in these movies.

Modern romantic films appear to cater more to younger audiences, implying that Jackson’s romantic film debut might not be imminent. However, the upcoming movie could serve as a nostalgic trip down memory lane, highlighting his past performances as a captivating romantic lead. It will also underscore what we missed out on by not seeing him in more such roles.

I Got A Big Hit Of Nostalgia Rewatching Them, And I’m Curious How These Movies Will Affect That Feeling

Many remakes and reboots have emerged, some of which have fallen flat. These productions haven’t altered my views on the originals, but they have left me feeling irritated instead. For instance, I find myself quite apprehensive about the continuation series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. There are numerous scenarios that could unfold, potentially causing frustration, as it seems unnecessary to revive a show when it’s already found peace.

It’s comforting to know that these films aren’t remakes or follow-ups to “Dawson’s Creek.” The satisfying ending to the show will stay intact, which includes some of my favorite Pacey and Joey episodes that I recently revisited. Yet, seeing Jackson and Holmes together again has a certain nostalgic charm to it.

As a die-hard fan of the beloved series, viewing Pacey and Joey together again could either stir up a wave of nostalgia, prompting me to revisit more episodes with delight. Alternatively, it might leave me longing for the days when they graced our screens separately. However, I must admit that such aversion is highly unlikely, even if their former charm seems to have waned. Regardless of whether the Happy Hours trilogy delivers brilliance or falls short, I stand steadfast in my loyalty and eagerness to witness its unfolding narrative.

While there’s a possibility that these films might linger uncomfortably in my mind if they aren’t well-made or turn out to be emotionally draining, similar to the kind of heartrending breakup movies, potentially dampening my reminiscent feelings.

The Dawson’s Creek Episodes Made Me Mentally Develop A Checklist Of What I Need To See In These Movies

As a dedicated cinephile, I can’t help but wonder if this upcoming movie might subtly incorporate some delightful nods to “Dawson’s Creek” – perhaps hidden Easter Eggs that only true fans would catch. It would be such a treat for me to see a sprinkle of references to the iconic WB series. And, speaking of dreams coming true, I sincerely hope Jackson’s character delivers an unforgettable speech, much like the one he delivered in the finale of “Dawson’s Creek.” I can almost hear it now!

In addition to their characters dancing, engaging in intense fight scenes, perhaps a sequence on a boat, portraying parenthood, and much more, here are some upcoming movies that have me on the edge of my seat. My heart, which has always been fond of Pacey and Joey, is about to experience a reunion of sorts after all these years, and I’m absolutely thrilled!
