After being inactive since April, S1Mon has announced that he is leaving EDG, a team renowned for his exceptional Breach plays.
2024 saw Hsieh “S1Mon” Meng-hsun join forces with EDward Gaming, marking his entry into an international arena. He made history as the first Taiwanese player to clinch an international championship and, more specifically, a VALORANT Champions title. However, recent internal disputes within the team have led to S1Mon’s decision to part ways with EDG.
Who is S1Mon?
17-year-old S1Mon embarked on his VALORANT adventure in 2021, climbing up the ladder with various smaller squads before landing with JDG and later EDG in 2024. With EDG, he clinched the VCT 2024: China Stage 2, ensuring a direct berth at the VALORANT Champions 2024. In an exciting 3-2 duel held in South Korea two months later, EDG emerged victorious against Team Heretics. This triumph cemented S1Mon as the first Taiwanese player to win an international tournament and also the first to claim a Champions title.
Internal controversies
In April, some internal disputes among the players of EDG emerged regarding S1Mon. Four key players claimed he exhibited an “unprofessional demeanor” and showed disrespect towards their coach as well as teammates. These issues within EDG gained significant attention for a while. Following a social media outburst, EDG officially announced that S1Mon was benched from the active roster.
On August 6, 2025, they released a goodbye video, confirming that S1Mon had left the team. Currently, EDG’s lineup includes:

Leaving EDG came with a speculation that S1Mon was going to join the tier-two Chinese team Any Questions Gaming, founded by local streamer EQ118 and rapper After Journey (艾福杰尼), for the upcoming Ascension China event. This information is yet to be confirmed, but we will keep you updated!
