New heist movie The Pickup has just been added to Prime Video.
In this comedy, we have Eddie Murphy from Shrek and Pete Davidson known for The Suicide Squad, playing the roles of two armed truck drivers. A sudden attack by criminals forces them into a high-speed pursuit.
Viewers now have the opportunity to watch the movie starting today, since it’s been recently made available on a global streaming platform.
As a gamer, I’d say: “The movie centers around an ordinary money grab, but things take an unexpected twist when the unmatched armored truck duo, Russell (Murphy) and Travis (Davidson), find themselves under attack by relentless thugs orchestrated by cunning mastermind Zoe (Keke Palmer).
In the midst of pandemonium, an unexpected pair finds themselves thrust into peril, dealing with contrasting temperaments, a series of unfortunate events piling up, and a single disastrous day that seems to worsen indefinitely. (The synopsis continues.)

The reception for “The Pickup” has varied considerably thus far, as evidenced by its 39% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is based on a total of 23 reviews.
FandomWire described the movie as a “wonderful gem” and an ideal heist comedy for streaming, while commending the “laugh-out-loud team” consisting of Murphy, Davidson, and Palmer.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the comedic ensemble was highly praised, with their natural camaraderie making their outrageous circumstances believable.

Although it delves into the known, Tim Story’s action-comedy manages to be quite entertaining, owing to his skillful handling of action sequences and a talented ensemble of comedians who effectively deliver the humor. (This review was provided by The AU Review.)
On the other hand, The Guardian expressed a more critical view, dismissing The Pickup and stating that it requires effort to make Murphy less humorous. Remarkably, they suggest that the film successfully accomplishes this task with just one hand.
The Pickup is available to stream now on Prime Video.
