The critically acclaimed, action-packed thriller, “Children of Men,” which was praised as a “masterpiece” by the Seattle Times, is now available on BBC iPlayer.
In the movie that was recently broadcasted on BBC Two, Alfonso Cuarón serves as the director. The cast includes Clive Owen, Julianne Moore, Michael Caine, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Clare-Hope Ashitey, and Charlie Hunnam.
In the year 2027, as depicted in P.D. James’ 1992 novel, this gripping dystopian tale unfolds. After 18 long years of infertility and a continuous war, accompanied by global depression and the looming specter of extinction, a former activist named Owen is assigned a critical mission: escorting a woman, Kee (Ashitey), who miraculously carries a child to safety.
Currently, Children of Men is rated Certified Fresh with a score of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The New York Daily News enthusiastically praised Cuaron, stating that he skillfully uses an extensive visual approach, resulting in a movie that is incredibly hard to look away from.

“This is as real and as provocative as the future gets on screen,” remarked Time Out.
In a review by Slate Magazine, it was stated that “Children of Men“, directed by Alfonso Cuarón, is a deeply thoughtful and multi-layered contemplation on topics such as fertility, technology, immigration, war, love, and the essence of life itself, which might just be the standout film of this millennium so far.
In an interview with Collider, the actor Owen, known for playing Theo Faron in the movie, commented on its lasting popularity. He mentioned that while the film, “Children of Men,” was initially well-received critically, it didn’t make a significant financial impact at the time. However, over the years, it has become one of his standout roles that fans continue to cite as one of their favorites from the recent past.

Owen went on to say that Alfonso is a forward-thinking filmmaker,” he added. “He’s created remarkable films since then.”
Or, for a more conversational tone:
“Owen called Alfonso a visionary director,” he said. “And let me tell you, this guy has been making some incredible movies ever since.
In regards to Cuarón, who has directed films like ‘Gravity’ (2013) and ‘Roma’ (2018), he found Owen’s performance on the film equally impressive. Sharing his thoughts on why Owen was perfect for the role of Theo, he expressed to Vulture: “You see, when you speak with Clive, there’s a certain brininess about him.
He can come off as cold and distant at times, but there’s something about him that warms me up instantly. I found myself genuinely liking him, and Cuarón concurred.
Children of Men is now available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
