Stranger Things Star Reveals Why He Joined Godzilla x Kong: Supernova Cast

Matthew Modine recently shared insights into his decision to be part of the upcoming MonsterVerse film “Godzilla x Kong: Supernova.” In a recent chat, this Stranger Things actor expressed his eagerness to act alongside the legendary monster and offered some glimpses into his preparations for the sequel.

During an interview with Maggie Lovitt from Collider, Modine mentioned that he joined the cast of Godzilla x Kong: Supernova to get a chance to encounter Godzilla himself. He went on to express how thrilling it was to work on this project, saying “It was quite exciting, indeed, working alongside Godzilla.” Furthermore, Modine shared his thoughts on acting alongside a fictional character like Godzilla, stating that it didn’t feel like an issue for him.

In a conversation, Modine expresses, “It struck me that Godzilla wasn’t present, yet I found myself gazing at both Godzilla and King Kong as if they were really there. You see, when attending drama school, we practice visualizing things that aren’t actually there. So, it was a delight for me to imagine Godzilla’s presence. This is why I joined the sequel.” Later, he succinctly explained his decision to be part of the movie by saying, “I chose to do this film because I wanted to encounter Godzilla.

Based on a recent announcement, the filming for Godzilla vs. Kong: Supernova has been completed in Australia. Now, the production team will be moving to different locations for the next stage of work. Directed by Grant Sputore, this sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong includes Dan Stevens reprising his role from the previous movie, along with new actors such as Sam Neil, Jack O’Connell, and Kaitlyn Dever, among others. As the sixth installment in the MonsterVerse series, this film will continue the storyline from Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire, which is set to release in theaters on March 26, 2027.
