Grant Denyer reveals ‘the only way’ to properly enjoy the Logies as he attends the glittering event with wife Chezzi

On Sunday evening, during the 2025 Logie Awards, Grant Denyer playfully hinted at an exciting night ahead upon his arrival.

In conversation with Daily Mail, the 47-year-old host of Deal or No Deal shared that he believed there was just one authentic method to appreciate the dazzling event.

On the night of the Logies, when I was questioned about the number of beverages I’d consumed following a somewhat questionable red carpet joke, I playfully responded by saying, “I was quite well stocked up.

‘You’ve got to be lit to do these things,’ he joked. ‘There’s only one way to go.’

Instead of just focusing on drinking, Grant had other plans for the Logies that included engaging in disputes with fellow celebrities as well.

It’s essential that you join us, engage in a verbal dispute with Tom Gleeson, climb onto Larry Emdur’s shoulders for a playful punch, but rest assured, I’m not backing down from the challenge myself.

As a devoted follower, I was fortunate to receive guidance from the amiable host regarding the appropriate level of effort needed for the Logie Awards. He shared some valuable tips with us to ensure we were pushing ourselves hard enough for the big night.

If you don’t find a sandwich partially covering your chest and the Cash Cow beside you in bed when you wake up, it means you didn’t put enough effort into your relationship. (This is a humorous and metaphorical interpretation of the original sentence, where the Cash Cow represents a romantic partner and the club sandwich symbolizes intimacy.)

Grant stepped out with wife Chezzi for Australian television’s night of nights.

It’s clear that his remark about enjoying excessive partying was just a joke. In fact, he has recently shared his struggle with addiction and hit rock bottom.

Or:

It was obvious that his comment about his fondness for over-partying was just a jest. He has recently revealed his battle with addiction, including a time when things reached their lowest point.

In the past, Grant overcame a well-known struggle with painkiller dependency, following an unforeseen accident involving a monster truck that left him with a damaged spine in 2008.

The accident resulted in his vertebra being shattered into eleven fragments, causing doctors to worry that he may never be able to walk again.

During an open conversation on the Nova 100’s Jase & Lauren program, Grant shared the instant when he hit rock bottom in his struggle against addiction.

In my personal reflections, there’s a particular image that I often recall, as it serves as a constant reminder for me to check my actions. After all, we are responsible for our behavior, aren’t we?

‘In my addiction, for some reason that night, I wanted scotch,’ he continued.

Originally, you resided in a city center apartment. In the dead of night, I found myself outdoors, clad only in my underwear. Wandering aimlessly with no clothes on apart from my undergarments, I was seeking liquor while in a delirious state. Eventually, I became disoriented and lost my way.

In simpler terms, it means that after being missing for three hours, Grant’s wife, Chezzi, eventually found him asleep on a fire escape, near a heap of waste that was presumably human feces.

Grant confessed that he was in a terrible state, limping badly due to a newly fractured spine. He had become disoriented and ended up getting lost inside the building. It took her three hours to find him, slumbering on the fire escape floor, huddled up in a corner, cold, scared, and stuck near someone else’s waste.

In an unexpected twist, I found myself in an unfamiliar setting – lying on the cold ground, clad only in my undergarments, after an incident involving a rather unpleasant discovery on the fire escape. Needless to say, I’ve had better nights.

‘I just try and remember that if I ever think I’m slipping.’
