Recently, as a devoted movie enthusiast, I find myself juggling quite the acting lineup! From wrapping up season 5 of The Boys (yes, it’s the final one!) to diving into my new Prime series, Countdown, airing on the 2025 TV schedule – and let me tell you, that’s a ways off but I can hardly wait!

On top of that exciting news, there’s Tracker Season 3 waiting in the wings, along with the anticipated prequel to The Boys, Vought Rising. Needless to say, my acting commitments are keeping me quite busy!

Outside of the world of showbiz, I’m also a loving dad to three beautiful kids with my wonderful wife Danneel Ackles. Our eldest, Justice “JJ,” is growing up fast, and she’s showing an interest in watching Countdown or The Boys – which sparks some pretty funny thoughts as her pop!

Raising a child on the brink of their teenage years isn’t just about handling the usual struggles associated with adolescence. It also involves navigating more ambiguous grounds when deciding what content is suitable for their maturing preteen. Jensen Ackles revealed to People that his eldest daughter is keen on watching ‘Countdown’, suggesting he won’t be able to refuse her 12-year-old request for much longer.

She’s urging me to see it, so I could possibly oblige. However, there might be certain scenes I need to fast-forward through. It seems like she’s almost ready to dive into Supernatural.

It’s truly wonderful that his daughter wants to watch Countdown, and I must admit, Jensen Ackles seems to be nearing his breaking point. Yet, I can’t fault J.J. for her excitement as Countdown is an excellent series. On the contrary, I understand Jensen’s reservations, considering the intense stunts involved in the show. Unlike Supernatural, which can fluctuate regarding its mature and scary content, Countdown generally offers a consistent level of intensity. If there were ever an R-rated revival of Supernatural, that might change things significantly.

Discussing the mature-rated show “The Boys,” Ackles acknowledges that his daughter won’t be exposed to it since the content is explicit and adult in nature. Even at 28, I sometimes find myself questioning certain scenes when I watch the series. Regarding his daughter watching this wildly explicit comic book adaptation, Ackles humorously expressed his stance: she definitely won’t be tuning in!

I don’t ever want her watching. Maybe when she’s in her 30s.

The show “The Boys” can be quite explicit and definitely not suitable for young viewers. With stories like an octopus romance, a large prop phallus, and numerous other adult-themed sequences that are hard to even mention, it’s no surprise that Ackles wishes his daughter to avoid the series as much as she reasonably can.

Perhaps Jensen Ackles could soon agree to star in “Countdown”, a series more suitable for his age compared to “The Boys”. It’s not hard to imagine that if he refuses, his daughter might still find a way to watch it. Personally, I can’t wait until J.J. is old enough to watch all of his father’s past work, regardless of whether it’s filled with fright, action, or adult content.
