DC Officially Unveils New Wonder Woman Logo Following Gal Gadot’s Exit

DC Studios has unveiled an impressive new version of the Wonder Woman logo, which gives fans a sneak peek into the revamped design of the emblem for Wonder Woman in the DC Universe now that Gal Gadot is no longer playing the role. This update was confirmed by James Gunn as work on a new Wonder Woman film continues.

Following the premiere of Superman and James Gunn’s announcement about a new Wonder Woman film, X user @DCUPRIMETV pointed out that DC has revamped the official branding for characters like Batman, Green Lantern, Harley Quinn, and, you guessed it, Wonder Woman. The fresh logo for the iconic comic book character sports a vibrant, interconnected double-W emblem in gold against a red and blue backdrop, with three silver stars adding balance to the design. This new look seems to draw inspiration from Wonder Woman’s classic comic book aesthetic rather than the metallic rendition seen in Gal Gadot’s portrayal of the logo. Interestingly, this style is also reflected in DC Studios’ recent update to Batman’s logo, which has opted for a more colorful and traditional approach compared to previous versions.

Initially, Gal Gadot portrayed Wonder Woman in the movie “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” in 2016. Since then, she has become strongly associated with this iconic role, particularly after the success of the 2017 film “Wonder Woman,” which not only recounted the character’s backstory but was also a film set during World War I. However, the momentum of Wonder Woman seems to have decreased following “Wonder Woman 1984.” With James Gunn and Peter Safran taking charge of a revamped DC Universe, it appears that the studio is now planning to cast a different actress as Princess of Themyscira. The updated Wonder Woman logo serves as the initial visual indication of the studio’s new direction, suggesting that a new actress will soon assume the role (for suggestions on who could replace Gal Gadot, check out this list!).

It seems that DC Studios is moving quickly with its Wonder Woman film, distinct from HBO’s Paradise Lost series focusing on Themyscira, but there are currently no confirmed casting decisions or release dates. The rebranding hints at James Gunn and Peter Safran having a unique vision for the Amazon warrior, which may differ significantly from Gal Gadot’s portrayal and other recent interpretations of the heroine’s symbol.

Recent Versions of the Wonder Woman Logo

The Flash

In the DCEU, Gal Gadot made a brief appearance in “The Flash” released in 2023, alongside Ezra Miller and directed by Andy Muschietti. Although her costume had minor changes compared to “Wonder Woman 1984”, Diana, played by Gadot, still wore the contemporary Wonder Woman symbol that fans were familiar with from her previous films and appearances.

Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League

A more contemporary and starkly contrasting portrayal of Wonder Woman and her iconic attire is featured in the 2025 anime film titled “Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League“. This movie, derived from Batman lore, presents Wonder Woman as Princess Diana or Daiana Amazone, the Eagle Goddess. In this production, she not only allies with the Batman family but also safeguards women from the Hagane Family and their Yakuza League.

Harley Quinn Season 4

In Season 4 of Harley Quinn, there was another instance where Wonder Woman made an appearance on screen. This animated version of Diana Prince sports a more traditional and classic look, and it’s interesting to point out that her shield emblem shares similarities with DC Studios’ new logo for Wonder Woman, hinting that Gunn and Safran are staying true to the character’s comic book origins.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

In 2024, I’m excitedly anticipating the action-adventure shooter game, “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League,” where I join the Suicide Squad on a mission to eliminate the brainwashed Justice League, masterminded by Brainiac. The only exception is Wonder Woman, portrayed by Zehra Fazal, who graces the game with a contemporary redesign reflective of her South Asian roots (discover the game’s intriguing and potentially contentious ending here).

Absolute Wonder Woman

In 2024’s “Absolute Wonder Woman” comic book series, we encounter a fresh interpretation of the titular character, who was brought up in Hell rather than Themyscira as is traditionally depicted. To underscore this darker, unsettling narrative, her logo has been changed to red and silver, with the absence of her usual blue; this change is also visible in her revamped costume design.
