70s rocker Dave Edmunds fighting for his life in hospital after suffering major cardiac arrest which left him with brain damage

70s music icon, Dave Edmunds, is battling for recovery following a severe heart attack in the hospital.

The well-known artist, aged 81, famous for his 1970 Christmas No.1 hit “I Hear You Knocking,” is reportedly receiving critical care due to a medical incident that resulted in brain injury.

On Tuesday, Cici expressed her heartache in a poignant Facebook post, disclosing the startling incident where she thought she lost her husband Dave. She detailed the terrifying instant when it seemed as though Dave had suddenly stopped breathing in her arms, only to be brought back by medical professionals.

In the heart of Monmouthshire, at our humble abode in Rockfield, I found myself in an unexpected situation that required immediate attention and care. Instead of focusing on the details of the incident, let me share with you what I did to help, as a lifestyle expert would put it – I acted swiftly to ensure his wellbeing, clearing any fluids obstructing his airways in an attempt to keep him breathing and alive.

Later, she clarified that a nurse initiated intense resuscitation efforts, known as CPR, and eventually announced that Dave had passed away. However, Cici shared that she refused to let go of her husband in this difficult time.

I’m sharing some remarkable news here. In an incredible twist of events, it seems that my friend, Dave, has been given a second chance at life. Although the doctors managed to intubate him, he remains critically ill in the hospital.

She emphasized that his condition involves noticeable brain injury and memory impairment, and he carries a significant likelihood of experiencing another heart attack.

Regarding the impact on her, she mentioned that she’s still reeling in shock and suspects she might be suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) due to the harrowing ordeal.

‘Dave, who is exceptionally gifted, humorous, and unique, would greatly benefit from an abundance of people’s prayers and well-wishes.’

Wrapping up her comprehensive message, she expressed gratitude for everyone’s kindness and encouragement. This sentiment truly touches her heart. If Dave pulls through, he has a long road ahead. We are both facing this together.

Knowing that there are compassionate individuals like yourselves makes this challenging voyage seem less daunting. You have my gratitude and blessings. Wishing you all plenty of love and radiance. Always.

Cici’s post drew numerous heartfelt responses from fans, expressing their affection and well-wishes for Dave.

Cardiff-born musician Dave achieved numerous hits during the 1970s and early ’80s, with popular songs like “Slipping Away,” “The Promised Land,” and “Girls Talk” among them.

The standout track they produced was an energetic remake of “Sabre Dance,” which climbed to the fifth position on the UK Singles Chart and garnered notice from renowned DJ, John Peel, who played it not once but twice during one of his broadcasts.

Following his solo venture, Dave achieved a top spot on the UK Christmas chart with his rendition of “I Hear You Knocking” by Smiley Lewis. The single sold an impressive three million copies and managed to climb up to No. 4 in the US charts as well.
