Doja Cat took a swipe at Sydney Sweeney‘s controversial American Eagle ad in a new TikTok video.
On a Monday evening, the 29-year-old musician shared a playful video imitating the speech pattern Sweeney (age 27) used in the commercial, complete with a thickened, humorous southern drawl.
In her post, she playfully mocked the advertisement for “good jeans,” which sparked a significant amount of criticism, as she joined several celebrities in voicing their disapproval towards the Euphoria actor’s promotional campaign.
Riffing on the phrase, the award-winning artist, known as Thandie Newton, mistakenly spelled it in her post as: ‘My jeans are blue.’
With an exaggerated southern drawl and expressions, she mocked what the actress said in the ad.
‘My pants are colored blue.’

The musician behind “Paint The Town Red” recently posted, following the controversy surrounding Sweeney’s American Eagle advertisement. As criticism poured in over the contentious phrase, numerous commentators voiced their disapproval.
Certain critics claim the statement, “Sydney Sweeney looks great in her jeans,” can be interpreted as a subtle endorsement of eugenics, and they criticize this portrayal as insensitive or out-of-touch.
Amidst the current uproar, it appeared that numerous fans were taken aback when Doja Cat expressed her thoughts on the issue through social media.
Internet users exhibited a variety of responses upon Doja Cat entering the discussion, with some choosing to tease or troll her regarding her recent post, and others deciding to participate alongside her.
One user tweeted a response saying, “What made me check out TikTok was to see Doja Cat poking fun at Sydney Sweeney after her post.
‘Just like Doja Cat, this person is joking about Sydney, as indicated by the laughter GIF they included.’
‘Doja making fun of Sydney’s jean ad on TikTok,’ one X user tweeted alongside three crying emojis.
The funniest moment of my week was seeing Doja Cat playfully targeting Sydney Sweeney, which had me laughing out loud!
‘LMAO even Doja Cat is making fun of the American Eagle ad with Sydney Sweeney,’ one person wrote.

Without making any public statements since the advertisement caused a stir, neither Sweeney nor American Eagle have commented on the issue.
Yet, despite the backlash, American Eagle saw an upturn as their shares surged by over 10 percent, resulting in approximately $200 million increase to their overall worth – a timely boost for a company that had struggled financially on the stock market throughout the year, according to Vanity Fair.
Previously, our company unveiled its autumn advertising campaign starring a 27-year-old actress. She appears in diverse positions and situations across the ads, accompanied by the slogan: ‘Sydney Sweeney – Perfect Fit for Denim’.
As a committed supporter, I found the casual mention of ‘her genes’ in those online ads stirred up quite a storm among social media users. They claimed it was a subtle, racially charged signal, which is certainly not a message I want associated with my beliefs.
Some woke critics have branded ‘Nazi propaganda’.
In spite of strong criticism, the double-entendre appears to have struck a chord, as American Eagle’s stock has risen by over 11% since last Wednesday, experiencing a significant surge on the day the advertisements were unveiled.
