I really hope you’re managing okay during these intense heatwaves sweeping across the U.S., as it’s been incredibly hot outdoors. Every week, I find myself suggesting that this is a great opportunity to read a Star Wars comic while enjoying some air conditioning, and I think that advice holds particularly well this week!
As we near the end of July, I’m finding solace in just two single issues hitting the stands this month. One marks the conclusion of a captivating publishing initiative, while the other unfolds at the shores – a tranquil setting, that is, until you factor in the colossal monsters menacing Jedi Knights! So, let’s delve into these exciting reads!
This Week in Star Wars Comics, it’s The High Republic – The Finale and Hyperspaces Stories – Tides of Terror
Entitled “The Beacon,” The High Republic – The Finale marks the culmination of Project Luminous, a five-year endeavor. Although we knew this was the “End of the beginning,” it’s still a bittersweet moment as it brings an end to The High Republic saga. This storyline has resonated with many Star Wars enthusiasts, inspiring my own creative pursuits, fostering new friendships within the fandom, and adding fresh, innovative elements to a franchise that’s nearly half a century old.
In the upcoming narrative of ‘The High Republic’, we anticipate that Master Keeve Trennis’ departure from the Jedi Order will shed light on both the reasons and methods behind his decision. Prior to ‘The High Republic’, it was already established that Keeve belonged to a historical group called The Lost Twenty, which includes Masters who chose to leave the Order over time. Notably, Count Dooku, first depicted in a deleted scene from ‘Attack of the Clones’, was also part of this group. Keeve’s membership in The Lost was hinted at in ‘Dooku: Jedi Lost’, which took place a year before ‘The High Republic’.
In simpler terms, “The Final Installment of The High Republic” was penned by Cavan Scott, beautifully illustrated by Marika Cresta, and its cover art is created by Phil Noto.

This week, I’m diving headfirst into an exciting new miniseries from Dark Horse Comics – “Hyperspace Stories: Tides of Terror #1”. As a dedicated supporter of the Jedi Order, I can’t wait to embark on this adventure alongside the legendary Master Kit Fisto. Together with Mace Windu and Shaak Ti, we find ourselves in a race against time to rescue a group of endangered individuals trapped within an underwater research facility on the ocean planet Tordus.
But let me make one thing clear – it’s not just a casual swim to the shore. The depths conceal terrifying beasts with an appetite for our heroes and those they seek to save. Will we manage to outsmart these monsters and reach the stranded group in time? Only the Force knows, but I’m ready to ride the waves of uncertainty and unleash the power of the Jedi!
Tides of Terror #1 from Hyperspace Stories” is a comic suitable for all ages, penned by George Mann, with artwork by Luis Morocho, and featuring cover art by Eduardo Mello.
That wraps up This Week in Star Wars Comics. Keep yourself frosty until we meet again in the comic panels!
